Other than Kobe and Fisher, who on the Lakers has significant playoff experience?

Utah made it to the Western Conference Finals last year. Did you forget that?

I'd predict the west ends up like NO, LAL, SAS, UTA, HOU, PHX, DAL, GSW. I think with Shaq in town and guarding Duncan, Amare will have a monster of a series against the Spurs and knock them down. From there on though, who knows because anyone could beat anyone, all I know for sure is the Suns now match up well with the Spurs and am confident they can take the Spurs in a 7 game series.

But if you wish me to choose between the Lakers and Jazz, go with the Jazz as Phoenix are better equiped to contain the Jazz big men as neither of them have the passing ability that Pau Gasol has, I think Gasol's passing ability would be a problem but think Shaq can contain Boozer. Okur isn't a threat as all he seems to do is jack up 3's and has no low post game to worry about, something Amare should cope with. Deron is the only one on that team that causes a problem but if PHX has home court advantage, I think the Suns can take the Jazz in 5 or 6.

Here's another possibility we've overlooked:

NOH (55-23) W@LAL W@SAC WvLAC L@DAL (58-24) #1

LAL (53-25) W@LAC LvNOH WvSAS WvSAC (56-26) #2 (tiebreak over utah 3-1)

UTA (52-26) W@DAL WvDEN WvHOU W@SAS (56-26) #3

PHX (53-26) W@HOU LvGSW WvPOR ......... (55-27) #4 (tiebreak over spurs)

SAS (53-25) WvSEA L@LAL W@SAC LvUTA (55-27) #5

HOU (53-25) LvPHO L@DEN L@UTA WvLAC (54-28) #6

DAL #7

DEN/ GSW #8

NOH 1 vs DEN/ GSW 8
PHO 4 vs SAS 5

LAL 2 vs DAL 7
UTA 3 vs HOU 6

We'd own the Spurs with homecourt. LAL v Utah would be a great series.

I think Odom made the Eastern finals with Miami the year before he was traded for Shaq with Brian Grant and Caron Butler.

And I think Radmanovic was a part of that Seattle team spearheaded by Allen, Lewis, Daniels, James and Evans, that won around 60 games and challenged both the Suns and Spurs in the playoffs for a few years.

I think Gasol has had his fair share of first round exits as well..

But you're right, individual playoff experience means little when going up against a team like Utah, who has had pretty much the whole team experience playoffs together the last 2 years.

I think the #3 seed and a first round matchup with Houston would be the best scenario.

For that to play out I think we have to root for the Lakers to beat the Spurs on Sunday. But if LAC or NOH beat the Lakers first, then Sunday will be a win-win for the Suns either way.

Although if somehow we end up with the #2 seed, I wouldn't be afraid of Dallas. We would be guaranteed home court until the WCF, and by then it's very likely that someone could have knocked out NOH, so we would have home court til the Finals.

I don't care what the Suns say, home court IS important in the playoffs - if for nothing else then at least for when a Game 7 comes up.

I don't want the Spurs in the first round. Although, it might be smart to play them before they get into a playoff groove...

Lakers. I actually like the Jazz, and I'm not too fond of the Lake Show, so I'd much rather knock them out.

That's what I meant. Only Kobe and Fisher have more experience than that Utah team. Jerry Sloan is definitely no stranger to the playoffs either.
