How to a break a four way tie?
If the Lakers, Spurs, Jazz, and Suns all end up at 56-26. How do they decide the seedings?

each team consists of four members for the survivor series hell in a cell matchup:
Spurs - Fabricio Oberto, Kurt Thomas, Ime Udoka, Manu Ginobili
Suns - Shaquille O'Neal, Amare Stoudemire, Raja Bell, Steve Nash
Lakers - Kobe Bryant, Ronny Turiaf, Derek Fisher, DJ Mbenga (Judo master)
Jazz - Carlos Boozer, Paul Milsap, Deron Williams, Andrei Kirilenko
Who wins?
but between the the four in the standings, who wins all the tie breakers?

none of these stand out..replace Manu with Bowen, and replace Oberto with Horry, and I'll take the Spurs..
Shaq doesn't know how to punch..he has the obvious size advantage in the match though..Stoudemire, Bell and Nash are all extremely soft..
I could see Mbenga fighting, but that's it..Kobe doesn't seem like a fighter..Fisher is too nice and Turiaf is way too happy to fight..he would probably sing and dance with the wounded to cheer them up..
Boozer is a big dude..I can't really see Williams or AK fighting though..Kirilenko would cry, so he's eliminated..

i don't have the time to lookup who has what records against who and point differentials of everyone...
but that's how its done.
1. If applicable, division champions must be determined first.
2. Better winning percentage in all games among the tied teams.
3. Better winning percentage against teams in own division (only if all tied teams are in same division).
4. Better winning percentage against teams in own conference.
5. Better winning percentage against teams eligible for playoffs in own conference (including team that finished the regular season tied for a playoff position).
6. Best point differential between offense and defense.

It's really complicated with these 5 if you include Houston.
There would be two division winners involved, and a mess of series that really complicate things.
If the Jazz beat the Spurs on the last game of the season to tie it up it makes it even more complicated because the Jazz would own the season series over the Spurs, who own the season series over the Lakers, who own the season series over the Jazz.

ugh.
i did all the math (basically finding out what everyone's combined record is vs. the other teams that are tied).
i had it in notepad and was just beginning to type my post....and the power went out.
off memory if the spurs/lakers/suns/jazz all tied, the lakers would have the 2nd seed, jazz 3rd, spurs 4th, suns 5th.
if houston was added to the mix, i believe the jazz would have the 2nd seed and houston would be in the middle (4th seed) because they have a .500 record against the other 4 teams (whereas suns/spurs have sub .500 records)

Stave Nash would get his hairy canadian tuchas demolished...
Put in Leonardino Barbosa because he got a green belt in Brazilian Jui Ji Tsu and Brian Skinner for Raj because he is big.

You think that is interesting, someone on another site came up with this.
A 6 way tie for first.
A 6 way tie for first.
Spurs lose to Utah/Sacramento and beat Seattle/Lakers 55-27

Jazz lose to Houston and beat Dallas/Denver/Spurs 55-27
Houston loses to the Suns/Clippers and beat Jazz/Denver 55-27
Suns lose to Golden St and beat Houston/Portland 55-27
New Orleans lose to Lakers, Kings, Dallas, Clippers 55-27

Houston would send:
Rafer Alston(Grew up in the hood of NY, lived on the streets, hustled gangsters in his young days)
Dikembe(Sharp elbows, crazy Afrikan talent, unorthodox style would surprise people)
Luis Scola(this guy will win at all costs, he will fight dirty, biting, pulling on hairs, all of that)
Chuck Hayes(like Scola, not afraid to kick some balls when fighting)

Hate all you want. Jazz have 2 home games where they are best in the league so the smart money says they win both those. Besides the Jazz seem to have Houston's number and Denver may want to lay back to lock in at the 8th seed as the hornets are a better match for them then the Lakers. Spurs @ SA are the game the Jazz are half expecting to lose but they just destroyed them last friday so they may ride in with a sense of confidence and take that one too.rewill17 wrote:I doubt Jazz win any more games this regular season looking at their schedule. 1 Max.
