Kevin Martin is a better shooter than Gay. He's not a better player than Gay.

It also depends on where they shoot. Martin is better than Gay outside the 3 line, but overall their efg% are almost identical, .513 for Gay, .516 for Martin.

Gay's interior efg surpasses Martin's by a greater margin than Martin's surpasses Gay's outside, and Gay has the better fg% overall.

And then the other stuff goes in Gay's favor; all 'secondary stats (rebounds, assists, steals, blocks) combined goes Gay 10.4/game, Martin 7.6.

I'd say it was a stretch to say Martin > Gay. I'd say push or in Gay's favor at this point.

Umm, Martin has a GREAT first step and WILL draw a foul on ANY opponent. So, either way, Martin scores on anyone. Also, Martin's jumpshot has a GREAT elevation/fading away to the left hard. So, basically un-guardable shot. Ellis has a great step too and will blow past defenders if he sees a crack on defense...

:o I didn't know he was Jordan... Your so lucky to have him on you team.

It'd take about 12 offensive attacks before roy and gay would be fouled out.

Martin and Ellis get abused by the bigger and just as athletic players in Roy and Gay. In fact, Gay would dunk the ball every time.

when a dunk is worth 3 points maybe that wins....but Martin is by FAR the best deep shooter of the 4 players.

I don't know how significant that would be in an individual match-up.

Over the course of a season, his 38% (career) trumps Gay's 36%, but in one game? If they both took 20 three pointers, they would both hit 7, and I doubt they take 20 three pointers. If they take 10, it still ends up the same.

If you want to just look at this season's %s, .407 to .355, they would have to take about 20 each for Martin to hit one more shot than Gay, on average.

It would be but I wanted to see if you guys think that speed can beat size. Imo, it's a fair comparison.
Martin>Gay
Ellis=Roy

I don't know where you grew up, but playing with fouls, let alone a foul cap in 2 on 2 games would kind of ruin the atmosphere

You really think that Gay can stay in front of Martin? No chance...

Gay is easily the best defender of the bunch. He may not kep up with him every play, but he'd do a much better job than you give him credit for

Umm, Martin will draw a foul on anyone like mentioned. This is true. His ability of drawing fouls is at a SUPERSTAR level. When he fadeaway hard to the left, it is basically unguardable. He has a high elevation on his J. Go watch more Kings games to see his fadeaway J is almost unguardable...

And Ellis will blow past ANY defender IF he sees a crack on defense.

You're just a homer... I mean, he's very good offensively but you just sound like a homer. [penisinmouth]"He can score on anyone, draw a foul on anyone, his fadeway is unguardable"[/penisinmouth]
Are you talking about some of the time, most of the time, or all of the time? Because when you don't say anything, you're implying (or people will undestand) that it's all of the time.

Oh, of course not. I dont mean all the time...lol....Eh, I probably got carried away...

Either way, when Martin's role change (Like becoming the #1 option by default...When Artest is injured...) Martin is pretty much hard to contain. When Martin becomes our #1 option this season. He averages around ~29 points...And averaging around 11+ FTAs during that phase...So, eh...

Kingsfan10 is right. Martin is one of the best scorers in the NBA. His shot is impossible to guard. I've never seen any player block his shot when he shoots the fadeaway.

Well Roy head to head with those 2 goes like this:

Roy (vs Sac) - 15ppg 7rpb 6.7apg (Guarded Martin, but guarded mostly by Artest)
Martin (vs Por) - 16ppg 5.3rpg 2.0apg

Roy (vs GSW) - 18.3ppg 6.3rpg 6.0apg
Ellis (vs Por) - 16.6ppg 7.2rpg 4apg

Add in Gay to that mix.. Yeah, I take Roy/Gay
