I can't stand Thabeet. I don't like one part of his game. If we can address PF in free agency, then take BPA. Even if it is another wing.

If that player can develop to where they can replace Sam when his contract expires in 3 years- even better.

I have know idea if Thabeet is that guy. I have read there are questions about his work ethic- but those same questions were raised about Sam when he entered the draft.

You've hit the nail on the head about position & cost. I don't understand why anyone thinkgs that Thabeet would be a bad addition. He's big, blocks shots & improved by leaps and bounds last year. We're not exactly spending a top 5 pick for him & let's face it, the team was lucky to have Sammy all year.

Thabeet = next Dalembert

Does anyone remember the trouble we went through to get the ORIGINAL Dalembert to where he is now?

Thabeet seemed much improved over last season. Picking in the late teens, he has to be considered.

If the Sixers go PG, there are really two options...Rose or Westbrook. Westbrook played more of a SG, but appears to have PG skills and more of an NBA frame. Not looking for an undersized gunning PG. Both of those selections are probably gone, so they should stick with getting the BPA, and err on the side of length if players are very comparable in talent. They need a better PF and some depth at center.

He's here isn't he? Thabeet is 7"3 .Mutombo can't really score either but if Thabeet is even half a Mutombo , he will help this team off the bench. And if he becomes another Sammy I'll take it

thabeet is very good with his feet, he used to play soccer a ton in africa before he got too big. athleticism isn't a problem. he is also a great shot blocker that has developed some skill and instinct that really compliments his height. he is a project though. he has only played basketball for 4-5 years and is very weak and does not have a commanding presence around the basket besides his ability to block shots. he will get muscled around in this league while he develops his strength.

one thing calhoun (uconn's coach) really likes about him is that he says he doesn't have any bad habits because he hasn't been playing long enough to acquire any. another great thing is if you watched the jump in his development from last year to this year it was HUGE. he has shown he can learn a lot about the position and the skills required in a short time if he has solid coaching. he is still very raw offensively but i think his skills will develop very quickly at least compared to his strength which will probably take longer.
