Historically good organizations have a tendency to put the right management, coaching, and players in place to be contenders every few years. That's why these sorts of "ridiculous" trades seem to happen. The Celtics have managed to screw this up mercilessly over the past few years, amidst the clamor of racially charged topics. But Kevin Garnett has turned karmic justice their favor as the Knicks spiral into oblivion at the reigns of a recently deposed madman. Walsh will have the Knicks doing better, because let's face it...they can't do any worse.

The only problem that imbalances the trade for me is the two first-rounders. Sure, it sounds good on paper, but you're getting draft picks from a team you just made into a long-term title contender. You need more developed talent. The Grizzlies were deep in a rebuild and needed to dump Gasol, but they need more pieces, and less prospects.

They got two more guys full of potential(that unfortunately never/hasn't panned out) in Telfair and Gerald Green.
so how exactly did minnesota win out? how exactly does this NOT show conspiracy?
mchale just set his teammate up for the score and on their way to the championship game. memphis has tons of picks. tons of capspace. an excellent player from UCONN to build around. and kwame brown gave them that. the LAKERs are top contenders.
if there has to be a numbering system it went like this.
1. celtics (win now)
2. LAKERs (win now and in the future)
3. memphis (future is very very bright)
the biggest loser - minnesota (future in the dumps)
