Amare Stoudamire? He might be considered if the MVP was based on after the Allstar break stats.

Everyone forgets how Kobe wanted out of LA to begin the year...

Thats not being a team player or an MVP IMO!

He got lucky and fell into a bucket of sh-t with this team.... now all you jokers want to make him MVP?

If anything they should give that to Rambis for stealing Paul Gasol from Memphis!

Kobe is a great player...but he certainly is not the most valuable!...JMO

Chris Paul is the heart and soul of the Hornets...

KG is the heart and soul of the Celtic's record turnaround....

One of those two "Leaders" should get the nod for league MVP!.... JMO

Deron Williams, Manu Ginobli, Dirk Nowitzki, Tracy McGrady, and Allen Iverson should also be in the conversation, even if in the sidelines.

The top 3 MVPs of the West has to be, without any doubt, Kobe Bryant, Rudy Gay, and Chris Paul.

If the Warriors were in the playoffs, BD would be a candidate. But since he's played pretty badly post all-star break most of the time, his candidacy went pretty down the drain.

Green font? You really think a 20 point per game scorer on a 21 win team is an MVP candidate? He's good but then you might as well be calling Kaman and Kevin Martin MVP candidates too. The top two in the West are pretty clearly Kobe and Paul. Out of those two, my vote goes to Paul.

lol... I was being very sarcastic. Like Daequan Cook is the true MVP of the East, not Kevin Garnett.

If there was ever a time to make a case for a co- MVP award it would be this year with CP3 and Bryant.

Haha ok good just checking. And I agree Cook is seriously getting slept on in the MVP race. Anyone who can take minutes away from Ricky Davis is the MVP in my book.

1. Why should that determine MVP? Paul is my pick at this point, but I don't think what happened last summer should matter in a regular season award for this season.

2. How did our assistant coach steal Gasol from Memphis? One would think the GM was responsible for that..

lets not get ahead of ourselves. kobe is great offensively and good defensively.

but tim duncan is the best two way player in the west. you see, defense has been in him since the beginning of his career, way back in college.

and the perimeter defense of the lakers stinks.

kobe didn't become shane battier all of a sudden.

to be realistic it will. what he did soured a lot of ppl. reporters specially - guys that vote at the end of the year for all the awards. its a popularity contest, and things like that will weigh into their decision.

Best wing defender in the west is Artest IMO.

Kobe is a top 2 2-way player in the west though, with Duncan being the other of the 2. Overall I'd say Kobe is the best player in the league now, and if he is the best player in the league, he's got to be the best 2-way player too (else the statement about being the best overall makes no sense).

Duncan is more valuable as a defender, don't get me wrong. He's probably the most valuable defensive player in the league, but I rate Kobe higher overall.
