We sign Brand when he opts out. We draft Arthur or Love, etc with our pick and draft Dorsey in round 2.
So...
Baron
Monta
Jax
Brand/Arthur
Dre/Dorsey
We've gotta get rid of the D-League sh*t we have on our roster and get Brand, one of the best two-way bigs in the league. Now THAT'S a championship right there.

"Our weakest position is Center"..I remember at least 5 times Nellie has said that over the last year and a half.mistatwo mayn wrote:Do people really think Nellie hates Wright + Dre? I think those would be his favorite players
Think about that..Watch the tape of the Denver game over and over..Get back to me and tell me you agree with our ODB.

With his recent strong play, combined with shooting struggles from Stephen and Al, Beans has moved up to #2 on the Warriors +- list, slightly behind Baron and slightly ahead of Monta.
Baron's +- has been diving (though it is still first on the team) with his shooting struggles and Monta's emergence. Monta is 3rd, and Stephen is 4th. All four have impressively positive +- numbers. Al is 5th with a slightly positive rating.
Pietrus is next. Slightly negative number, but the team still wins in the minutes he's on.
Barnes and Kelenna bring up the rear of the regular rotation guys. The team is roughly break even when they are on the court, and winning when they aren't.

Yeah, it's interesting to look at the two different definitions of +-, and how that affects things. The 82games definition is what is the split in the teams fortunes, per minute, between player x being on the court and being off the court.
The nba meaning (used by LF above) is just how does the team do versus the opponent, per minute, when player x is on.
The lists are almost the same order, and almost the same relative ranking, but the one big difference is the Baron/Andris rankings.
Basically, the team has beaten it's opponent the best when Andris is out there. But the flip side is that we've gotten crushed the worst when Baron isn't out there.
Even though I like the 82games style +- meaning better in general, I think I'd agree with LF that Andris has really been the most important. Baron has played 81% of the minutes, so the sample size of his off court minutes is a bit shakey. And of course now that Monta is emerging as a PG, Baron is a lot more expendable than Andris.

I'd be willing to dump almost anybody to sign Brand. Cuz after Baron, Tay, Dre, and Jax, the rest of our roster is really a bunch of D-League scraps that are expendable, or at least most of it. If MBENGA and Foyle were key rotation guys, along with Pietrus and Barnes, then you know that your roster is very messed up. Don't you guys know that we're one big from a ship? We have to make the sacrifices in order to reach the next level. How much does EB want?

With that trade the Warriors might drop to 25 wins next year but it would make a younger team that might be able to compete for a title a five years from now if they can draft an All-Star in the 2009 draft.
I might want to pass on Kevin Love at 14. I love his outlet passes. I think he relies on being stronger the guys he plays against and that won't be true in the NBA. He will also be slow in the NBA. I think he may have already maxed out his talent. Congradulations to Kevin Love for being all he can be but I want more upside potential.

Fire everybody and replace them with who?
We can't get anything for Baron, Jackson and Harrington so we might as well keep them and see if 50 wins gets a playoff spot next year.
POB and Pietrus will go looking for some place else they would rather play.
Bring back everybody else. Try to find a up tempo pure point guard to bring off the bench for eight minutes a game, who's job it will be to try to get the team running when they start falling asleep on the court.
The team needs a back up center.
The 2006-2007 version of Matt Barnes could have helped this team; so the team should see if that guy can be found.
Give Nellie incentive money for playing his bench players. When nobody can hit there 3s and the other team is playing a sagging zone, try throwing Belinelli out there.
Get Wright 15 + minutes a game.
Don't draft any rookies, Nellie won't use them. Trade the draft picks for future draft picks. If we do draft at 14, look for the future back up point guard and then send him to the NBDL so he can get some experience.
Of course we COULD get "something" for Baron-Jax-Harrington,but there's the $ stuff...we'd have to get roughly equal salary and so that's a total of $30 mill ++ in new replacements. Are the new guys BETTER? Are they as cost effective-or less. Obviously if you chuck 3 starters plus another rotation player or two....you have to start over in terms of getting the new crew in synch. Good chance a lot of strategy and tactics become obsolete.
We'd need to figure out some variation of the "style" then get the players to DO it. About then-next season is over and a new coach brings in new ideas..then wants MORE "blow it up" to get guys who fit his thing.
Enough.
As is...we HAVE BEEN the Blow It Up franchise, Pietrus has seniority now,is 80% sure to leave. That leaves Biedrins as the guy with the longest stay here....and barely old enough to buy a beer. Too unstable.
I saw the Bulls/Cavs play tonight. I STILL think Noah was the guy to take. He had a double-double tonight, had a recent 20 rbd game. His versatility and hustle won it for the Bulls. I DO like Wright, but, let's not annoint him as our franchise cornerstone too quick. Murphy,Pietrus,Ike, all had a time when the expectations got pretty high...without any patience, without the TEAM seeming to see what IS,or what CAN BE,with the team not too clear on HOW to guide a player or what the goal even should be.
I tend to assume we went far enough in making Pietrus + POB feel staying here would be a bad career move, that IF the W's actual idea was to keep either (cheap) that plan is not apt to work. With Wright/Belli underused and still a bit green,It seems there's a real need to keep Azu + Barnes. Both will tend to earn whatever we likely pay. We can not count on the scrap pile even yielding a Watson or Croshere. We can't assume too much about last years rooks-or the next victims....I mean,prospects....we draft. I half think Mullin again goes for a semi-raw freshman "athlete" who Nellie inevitably ignores. I hope that ain't the case.
I give Harrington some credit for adapting. I have seen progress in his D,rebounding, finishing inside. Baron + Jax are talented but both have off days. There's NO player who's constantly at his peak. Baron + Jax are guys who take risks. Probably, too many risks if we are gonna contend-but then again-we need more from the WHOLE team..and the coaching,so we don't NEED to count on a few guys being hot or lucky.
A chronic weakness of Nellieball is that we are always playing like we are some no-name college playing Duke or U Conn. We ASSUME we can't win in "normal" basketball,so we need to use gimmicks, hope we hit half of our 3's.
As a result we CAN ambush anyone...but can't reach our target. We need to make the cut for the playoffs. We need to be able to matchup vs ANY West team...in a 7 game series. We need a tactical plan IN ADDITION to the "lets go fast + small" which lost the element of surprise already.
I'd like us to get Sean Singletary or Lster Hudson as a "value" pick in Rd 2.
I still envision Hansborough as a guy who'd bring a MAJOR boost soon, but trading down and getting Jason Thompson and ? works too. Cal F Ryan Anderson is another draft bargain.
Just before coming back from Bakersfield,Kosta had back to back games of 18 and 19 rbd. In his 15 min NBA career..he has yet to show me any of that, but GSW really has to take a good look at those games and try to get that working at the NBA level.
CENSORED... No comment.
