Are the Lakers still 'legit' title contenders?

duncan averages more rebounds including offensive while playing 4 minutes less than Lamar in a slower team. For a guy averging 38 minutes averaging 10.5 rebounds is average or at best slightly above average compared to PFs or Others who are best rebounders for their team.

first you start off by saying that lamar can't rebound against amare/shaq when the only time they played lamar had 11 rebounds and pau had 3. then u state that he's an average rebounder, which is laughable. thank goodness you realized that and started to make up some new parameters to your comment like "he's an average team leader" or something like that. lol.

^we got out rebounded by 10+ that game dude. ANd it took kobe 41 and the gang to have perfect game to beat Phx. how straight do you want it? You can't see every game that we get raped in the boards and you want to call lamar a good rebounder? Your the one comparing lamar's rebounding to the whole leagues(every poistion)? You're telling me im setting up ridiculous parameters?

forget the comparing lamar's rebounding to the league part, it wasn't you who said it.

yeah, but unfortunately you decided to single out lamar.

"Lamar is average rebounder but he ain't going to get it against bigs, and especially the suns with shaq"

thats what you said. that lamar isn't going to rebound against the suns and shaq. lamar had 11 rebounds. pau gasol, the starting center, in 34 minutes grabbed 3. THREE. yet, u called out lamar. on top of that, u bring up kobe's point total which no one is even talking about. no one is talking about them BEATING the suns, the conversation was about lamar's rebounding. lol.

edit: don't know what to say about your edit. just cause the team got outrebounded doesn't mean lamar is suddenly not a good rebounder. i mean, would you call kobe a piss poor defender because the lakers perimeter defense sucks?

I never called lamar out for his rebounding and i have never knocked his rebounding. He gets his every night but its nothing special coming from the guy that gets heavy minutes compared to "others". Only part thats been consistent in lamar's game is his rebounding but when ur lengthy 6'10 playing PF, you better get some rebounds. Gasol is 8rebounds a game guy but he only averages 34 minutes. I mean u telling me no bigs going to get 2 more rebounds in 4 minutes?

you're right. gasol's 8 rebounds in 34 minutes comes out to 1 rebound per 4 minutes. its perfectly reasonably he double his production at his moment of highest fatigue.

As much as I dislike Odom, the thing I choose to criticize him over would NOT be rebounding. Thats probably the best thing he does.

Pau, being a 7 footer is the one who should be getting criticized.

Pau GaSOFT

that's my knock on him. Get's pushed around a lot. To be fair, he's playing center when he's a PF...but still.

Lamar's a good rebounder in general, and for a smaller PF/hybrid foward

I love his rebounding

yeah, that kinda really fails when he has to do that. something about giving up 40-50 pounds kinda puts him outta his league

Certain matchups will always go in favor of certain players. Odom had a good game against them, and is a good rebounder, but I wouldn't say he's one of the leagues best.

The Lakers play an up tempo style of play, leading to more shots. So do the Hornets. That's going to inflate rebounding numbers for all players.

Aldridge and Frye both had huge rebound numbers against the Lakers this week, but that doesn't make them some of the best in the NBA.

Legit contenders, but unlikely to make the Finals (or certainly not win in the Finals) without Andrew Bynum.

"but I wouldn't say he's one of the leagues best. "

who said he was? the argument was about him being average or not.
