How should D'Antoni approach this game?

Just rest the starters?

I think he should perfect his offensive sets and get the team clicking and then in the second half incorporate the bench players.
Is there any point in winning these next two games?

If we were rolling and knew what we were doing I wouldn't mind benching the starters. But it's quite clear we are struggling to beat good play-off teams not names San Antonio since Shaq came in.

GSW is a play-off caliber team. We should be taking this seriously, if nothing else as a warm-up to the play-offs. We've got alot of work to do considering the play-offs are so close. This game could go a long way to helping us.

Remember Dallas resting players against GSW last season? They came out flat and got done!

Yes, can't we still end up with the fourth/fifth?

I say we play our starters 28 minutes max. Maybe even rest Nash if he's still banged up on monday.

It's possible we finish #5 above the Spurs, but it's unlikely..

If we win out, which is possible against GSW and Portland, we'd finish up 55-27.

Houston would have to go 0-3 to finish 54-26 which is unlikely; They should beat either the Clippers and/ or Denver and finish either with 55 or 56 wins. And now they own the tiebreak over us.

Utah have tough games against Denver, Houston and SA but are assured a #4 seed at worst anyway.

LA already have 55 wins with 2 games to play and own the tiebreaker over us.

If SA go 1-2 they would finish 55-27 with the tiebreak against them, thus dropping them to #6 but they would have to lose two of @LAL, @SAC and vUTAH.

So keep an eye on the LA/ SA game, if LA win then they may finish with a #1 seed with SA dropping to #6.

If SA win, then LA would likely finish #2 with the Spurs #5. Either way, they would not meet until the conference finals :banghead:

The two most likely scenarios are:

8 Den @
1 LaL
4 Utah v
5 Phenix

7 Dall @
2 NOH
3 Hou v
6 SAS

OR

8 Den @
1 NOH
4 Utah
5 SA

7 Dall @
2 LAL
3 Hou v
6 Pho

I think it's starting to look like, if we make the WCSF, that's we'll be playing in LA.. I think it may be better to finish 6th and let Dallas have first crack at them. I think that's the best matchup for them, and if they do happen to get the upset, we'd have HCA advantage against them.

That is dependant on the Spurs winning in LA though, so..

Who has the tie breaker between SAS and Houston? they split their meetings but SAS has better division record while Houston has better conference record....

I think the most likely scenario is

Hornets/Lakers
Lakers/Hornets
Spurs
Jazz
Rockets
Suns
Mavs
Nuggets

Definitely don't rest the starters as many have said experiment a bit with different offensive/defensive sets and get the team ready for playoffs.

I just want to play the Lakers in the first round. Anyone else will be a major disappointment, but if not the Lakers then Spurs.

Is there a way we can stay at six while SA slips to 4 or 5?
