2007 vs. 2008
Which draft class is better, top to bottom? While I think the '07 class was better 1-5, I think '08 is MUCH deeper and overall better if you consider look at the top 20 or 30 guys in each draft.

gswhoops I agree with you actually, but we're going to be called crazy because everyone is hyping up Oden and Durant and Horford. 1-5 07 is prolly better like you said but I would take a guy like Arthur at 12 over Thad Young, Augustin over someone like Noah, etc so I definitely think this 1 is definitely deeper. Too be honest I didn't really like 07 as much as everyone else did.

I'd say that Oden and Durant are above Rose and Beasley.
The 3-14 picks in both drafts look similar (in quality at least, there's more guards in 2008 and more forwards in 2007).
The 15+ picks for 2008 look better than the 15+ picks for 2007. Of course I remember liking the 15+ picks for the 2007 draft a lot better a few months out than I did by draft day, so maybe on closer inspection by June I won't like the 15+ picks for this year either.

People always think <current year>'s draft is a deep draft. Then it always turns out with people saying I knew so and so sucked. This year's not going to be any different. Depth wise, it's pretty similar IMO, but Rose and Beasley are not as good as Oden and Durant up top, and picks 3-10 this year are basically raw, unknowns and small guards, whereas last year at least there was some size.

Actually Rose and Beasley could match up favorably with Durant and Oden.
Only one of the four has ever played a game. We'll see what happens.

Oden, Durant, and Horford match up a whole lot more with Wade, Melo, and Bosh
well the 08 hasn't played so who knows. But so far 07 has been pretty disappointing. Given how much hype they got, they have not done much. Oden has been out and his injury could affect his career. Durant is alright, FG is a bit low though. Horford is just solid, but nothing like how he was hyped. Pretty disappointing overall.

Both Durant and Horford matchup favorably with the rookie seasons of Bosh and Melo.
People just have convenient memories

People though Horford would average better than a double double in his rookie season? I think not.
Durant is scoring better than LeBron did in his rookie season (Durant: 20.0 ppg in 34.4 mpg, shooting .425/.287/.874 vs. LeBron: 20.9 ppg in 39.5 mpg, shooting .417/.290/.754), so I don't see how people aren't happy with his performance. He's been playing like a borderline allstar for the last month and a half as well.
Lots of promising players picked relatively low as well (Brandan Wright at 8th, Noah at 9th, Hawes at 10th, Thad at 12th, Julian Wright at 13th, Al Thornton at 14th, Stuckey at 15th, Nick Young at 16th, Sean Williams at 17th, Critt at 19th, Daequan at 21st, Dudley at 22nd, Rudy at 24th, Landry at 31st, big baby at 35th - all have shown a lot of potential this year).
This rookie class is only disapointing to those who had unreasonable expectations. It's been disappointing that Oden hasn't played, but other than that, it's looking like a pretty good draft year.

However, from picks 12-20 there may be all players that are 6'9 and above, mostly 6'10 or 6'11, and SF-C.....SO, this year has a lot of quality mid-1st round big men, just not Oden, Durant, and Horford.................................
