He's either BSing or he's not coming back this season...

But I really think this might be some gamesmanship by the Lakers...

Anyone think he's gained a little weight in his face?

I don't think he's bs-ing...He answered every question with the same story, he's telling the truth.

We're going to have to go pretty far in the playoffs to see Andrew Bynum and Pau Gasol play together this season...

I wouldn't count on them playing together. Even if Bynum does come back, we can't just integrate him in this late and expect for everything to click. We'd be better off having him come in behind Gasol so that he can dominate 2nd units, which is what I hope he's able to do from the 2nd round on.

doesn't sound good at all....i doubt he BSing. Second round of playoffs could be about three weeks from now. The problems he says he's having seems like it will be longer than 3 weeks for him to be ready.

Lakers medical staff should really resign from their positions because they have no idea how to treat our players. Every single time, when one of our player has any kind of injury, they end up missing action a lot longer than they should, if they even return to action at all.

I guess BSing isn't the right term...

He just sounded like a guy who has something up his sleave and is trying real hard to sound serious.... And can't wait for the interview to end...

That's just how it sort of sounded to me...

Plus the whole NY specialist thing... Most if not all of the top Sports-related Orthapedists(Sp) are in CA...
I just wonder if they needed a doc unafilliated with the Lakers to give a negative status report...

I guess we'll find out.

If that isn't the case and taking what he says and his body language at face value, then I'd say he's done for the year...

The other way to interpret the interview would be a guy who just got the worst news possible and is just trying to stay positive... And can't wait for the interview to end...

Again... I guess we'll find out.

As you guys know I was at the game on Sunday against the Kings , and I was sitting 10 feet away from the Lakers practice .
I saw Bynum running drills , he didnt have any hestitation in anything he did .
He seemed like he was a bit slower than normal , but he seemed fine to me .
I can honestly say that he looked normal and he might be ready for the playoffs .
All I can say is that maybe just maybe this is something the Lakers are trying to do to derail the media and others by claiming Bynum isnt ready to play , as far as the Bynum I saw on the court , he looked ready to go .
Then again maybe he reinjured his knee .
But I doubt it .

he was asked about that. john ireland said he looks great out there against shaw/rambis, if there was anything going on that couldn't be seen. bynum said he was struggling on the left block and was favoring one leg over the other.

i think people are reading too much into it. he'll play when he's pain free. that could be one week, that could be 3-4 weeks. point is, they aren't trying to fool anyone. they just don't know.

I believe he will be ready by the second round. He didn't want to promise it but he did say I hope to be ready by the second round.
semi-se he can't play behind Gasol. With the West being redicoulus they need Gasol to play 40 minutes which would leave Bynum 8 minutes or so. If they are going to beat 3 western teams and then the Celtics they have to intergrate and Bynum must start off with 20 minutes and go to 30 after a round.
Even if he starts next year they can be on the same court at the same time. I don't understand why people think they can't play together even though Gasol is already intergrated. Do you think Bynum doesn't know his game? Does Gasol not know Bynums? Basketball is not that hard.

Well on the second round that time frame should have given about three weeks prior from last visit to the doctor..Playoffs don't begin until April 19, this year so only time will tell!

It's better for Bynum to heal 100% before returning to the court in order to preserve his career than to come back 70-80% just for one playoff run and risk weakening his knee permanently for the entire future.

It's not necessarily an issue of integrating Bynum with Gasol but integrating him, period. You're not going to miss four months with a major knee injury and all of a sudden hit the ground running, playing big minutes and performing at a high level.

At this point, anything we get from him is absolute gravy. If we truly do need him to survive the West, then chances are we're just going to have to wait until next year because I can't imagine he'll be anywhere close to what he was when he got hurt.

Unless he's a complete freak of nature, the human body simply doesn't work that way. Stamina, timing, confidence -- he's going to be lacking in all those areas and more to the point that we simply can't count on him making a significant contribution.

Agreed Dexmor that Bynum cannot play under Gasol, when he is healthy. But he is coming back from an injury which can be pretty devastating to any player. Knees are not like the ankle which can be taped up and pushed onto the court. He needs time to insert himself with the Lakers, not just with Gasol, but with Kobe, and Fish as well as all the other Lakers. So in response Bynum should be coming off the bench for the time being so that he can gain some time with the team and the way the playoffs go. It is much more intense then the regular season and we have no idea how Bynum's knee will respond. I really would like to see the twin towers in play with either LO or Ariza slashing between defenders. But till Bynum can trust his knee in a really intense environment I dont mind seeing him wait and slowly progress into the starting lineup.
