Rockets sign Loren Woods to two-year deal

Woods has new deal

The Rockets reached an agreement with center Loren Woods late Thursday, signing the reserve center for the remainder of the regular season and postseason.

Woods, whose second 10-day contract expired Thursday, signed a non-guaranteed contract for next season, though portions of the contract would become guaranteed if Woods is still on the team at several dates during the season.

Woods has played 10 minutes in five games with the Rockets, making three of five shots and getting one rebound.

He'll be a useful backup; he's a very good offensive rebounder, a decent enough passer and can stick a 15-footer reasonably well. He's not so awful that he can't be useful on a minimum contract. Good signing.

I just hope this doesn't convince them to not draft a center.

so next year

1. Yao
2. McGrady
3. Battier
4. Scola
5. Alston
6. Landry
7. Jackson
8. Brooks
9. Novak
10. Hayes
11. Head
12. Francis

13. Harris (non guaranteed)
14. Woods (non guaranteed)
15. First round pick (Thabeet? Hibbert? Jordan? Hardin? Lopez?)
Harden is still a work-in-progress. He can score, but he can't help his teammate that much - Yao Ming
