GAD---Skiles is more of a renowned coach now and could much more easily get an amenable job. He did ok in phoenix, but I doubt he'd have nearly as many options as he will now. I can easily see him waiting a year having a lot to do with looking for the right situation.
That said, whehter he is willing to essentially spend millions of dollars to avoid a year of vacation is something even the biggest basketball fanatic would have a hard time passing up.

GAD,
I obviously don't claim any inside info here, but I have heard that Skiles turned down inquiries to coach at Indiana U because he wanted to stay in the NBA (and coach... not deal with recruiting, boosters, banquets, etc).
You are right about his hiatus after coaching the Suns... but I think that had more to do with how the situation ended (uglier than his combover) and that no one wanted to hire him untul Paxson came around a few seasons later. I remember a lot of shock when Paxson made that announcement. Skiles' rep was LOW at that point. At this point, even considering how badly things ended in Chi, I think Skiles has raised his profile a little bit.
But I won't argue with you, that almost anyone in Skiles situation would sit back and rest and recharge for at least one full year. Its not like he is poor. And I believe that he has a young son that lives in Indiana.
The last thing I will throw out there, is that I don't think most NBA coaches are dummies... and the "resting" and the "spending time with family" is more just lines they throw out there when a situation is not very appealing to them. Funny for example, hoe Phil Jackson "wasn't interested in coaching anymore" and "loving fishing and living in his Montanna cabin" until the opportunity to coach a title ready Shaq and Kobe team came up.
Not that I am saying that our roster is nearly that appealing...
Just that working for Hammond, cashing Kohl's big checks, and coaching a talented up and coming roster (obviously this last point hinges on a coach's opinion of Bogut and Yi) would be more appealing to some coaches than taking a year off and working for the Kings.

I think you need new voices speaking to you. I know of no one here, donors, reporters, and others, who mentioned Skiles and the IU job as a serious consideration of the school. He certainly did not turn it down,as it was never offered, nor was ever going to be.

Epicurus,
You would know more than me. I'm just reporting what I read in the Chicago Tribune from some beat reporters (who I assume had some degree of a working relationship with Skiles over the years and woldn't make stuff up). The reports didn't claim that the job was offered to him, just that inquiries were made (that could have been boosters, admin, who knows?) and that he preferred to wait until an opportunity opened up in the NBA.
Again, if you are privy to the interworkings of IU, I defer. Just passing on what I read.

Williams would NOT run plays he was directed to this year, Carlisle and VG both love to call lots of plays and both love to use big men, something Williams seems to have little desire to do. Mo Williams must go, but I am not really in the Haslem camp either...lets shop around and see if there is a better piece out there.
I have no doubt that the Bucks will try hard to move Mo, it's about as obvious a move as it gets if something can be worked out. I'm with you though on Haslem, i'd only trade Mo for him as a last resort. I'd much rather get say a late first rounder and a shorter contract than Mo's in return if possible.
If we can't get something like that draft pick wise or an athletic younger wing, then i'd take Haslem for Mo if that's the only deal out there.
Hopefully then Michael Redd could also be shipped out, the soft sieve duo finally gone so i at least have some hope for the future.

I agree with this line of thinking with regard to Conley. I'd offer up Villanueva/lottery pick or Yi/lottery pick to get Conley. He would have a major impact on this team in my opinion. A Conley-Sessions PG situation has the potential to be a very strong one going forward.
I don't think the Bucks should have to break the bank to get Lowry. Villanueva for Lowry/filler should work. I've been proposing that deal for a long time now.
Bottom line - I agree with Majerus. The Bucks are going nowhere until they get a quality PG. And if Majerus does have Kohl's ear on this, it could be a prelude to Mo being dealt but Redd staying put.

You would offer what to get Conley!?

He is not worth a proven player and a lottery pick!

I think you meant you would move Villanueva to Memphis to join his boy Rudy Gay for Conley and Warrick or Milicic and a switch of lottery picks?
Is that what you meant?

Portland will make a push to get Conley

But Conley is ok. One thing is he is not physical enough for me.

Wow, that's really stepping out on a limb.

Bull.
