is there any chance they try to mold our existing pieces into a winner, rather than request that they're shipped out?
I ask because it's been suggested that at least a few of the guys here are locks to be moved. I wonder if a respected coach couldn't get them to play better basketball, namely on the defensive end.

I think this group has gotten stale...I'm sure a JVG or RC could get more out of this group, but I don't know if Redd, Bogut and Mo are ever going to be at their best playing together. Too much baggage with that group and everyone's best off if Mo and/or Redd move on to greener pastures.

I think yes.
My guess is that the roster will be tweaked, but not blown up.
Redd and Bogut are likely going to be the core.
Mo and CV are likely to be trade fodder.
And the rest will probably stay in some form or fashion with Yi being our potential player and Session our project player.
We of course just need a starting caliber PG to go with Redd and Bogut and I think we will be in pretty good shape.

I agree Chapter. I think there's a chance Redd could be dealt if the right deal comes along but I don't think trading him will be the top priority in the offseason. I think moving Mo and Villanueva and trying to move some of the bad contracts while utilizing the team's lone expiring deal (Dez) could be the plan. Just a gut call.
If Kohl hires both a big-time GM candidate (which he's done) and a big-time head coach (which Hammond wants to do) it will be clear he's making one more (perhaps final) push to turn this team into a contender. And I'd have to think Hammond and the new head coach will be smart enough to realize the current group isn't going to get there and changes need to be made.

The only quick change will be if the Bucks win out in the lottery and get someone who is a superstar in the making. Only if other gms are braindead will the Bucks unload and get something better (or even more appropriate, whatever that may mean). The NBA is not the NFL, as player performance year to year is much more predictable. Better young players from drafts replacing the roster players seems the best hope for this particular franchise.

I agree to a point. However, I'd also be willing to take a step back in terms of "talent" if it means removing the bad pieces and starting to bring in better ones. Plenty of people argued the Bucks took a step back in talent in Porter's first season, for example, but the pieces fit and the team was a lot of fun to watch until Ford went down late in the season.
Plus, I don't think there's as much talent on this team as some insist. So I'm not sure it will be as difficult to replace some of the players - even some of the key ones - as it may seem. When you've failed to crack 30 wins in back-to-back seasons, I don't think you should be fooling yourself into believing you're a talented team because you're not.

I personally see Redd, Bogut, and Yi staying. However I don't believe we went out and got a real GM to try again with this group. I think the reason we went out and got Hammond was to build a winner and get some defense. Our guys don't play defense so I don't see them hanging around. It also probably depends on who we get as a coach. Time will tell, but I see a couple of these guys being sent packing.
