Actually the first line about Redd....when asked if he was viewed a cornerstone...."I think you have to right now"...does not sound like a real ringing endorsement to me.

Actually, it doesn't sound like Redd is included in the core group at all. He specifically mentions those under 25. And making unpopular moves sooner rather than later. Moves similar to trading Jerry Stackhouse.

Redd is as good as gone.

I thought his comments about Redd were quite strong. But the line about making an unpopular move definitely could be about trading Redd or trading Mo. I can't imagine anybody else being traded (other than Bogut and maybe Yi) where the move could be considered "unpopular." And based on his comments, Bogut and Yi aren't going anywhere - not that anybody realistically should expect them to.

I think it was that whole first line....if you viewed someone on your team as a cornerstone you would say something like absolutely, most definitely.....not, well right now.

It's also possible he believes Redd will stay for the next couple of years but eventually be traded which is why he's praising him as being a critical part of the team now but not long term as opposed to Bogut and Yi, who are both younger. I'm fine with trading him at this point but I have a feeling Redd may not be dealt this summer unless the Bucks are blown away by an offer for him. I can't see Mo lasting and Villanueva has been Dead Man Walking in my opinion since the second Yi was drafted.

You guys need to forget listening to what Hammond says about any of these players and drawing conclusions from it......It was only Larry Harris that openly and frequently felt the need to talk about his players strengths and weaknesses.....and who the core was and all that.

This guy is much smarter and he won't tip his hand at all...he also will never badmouth his assets even if they suck......."Royal Ivey....I've loved that kid since he came into the league..no question a lock-down defender......"

We all loved Larry for his candor....it meant success on WSSP.....but it is part of why he failed with the product on the court. We just have to revert back to having a GM who will publicly say essentially nothing.

All Hammond has told you today is that he might make trades of popular players and that changes (most likely the coach) are coming sooner rather than later.

Interesting that he didn't mention Mo Williams as a guy that he "likes" on this current Bucks roster.

This was also my interpretation that Redd is probably on this team for now but might not be in a few years or rather long term.. and I'm fine with that. Honestly I think the perception o Mo as a fan favorite in many respects could be what he is talking about. Many casual fans like Mo and some even like CV so I think they could be on the way out. Seems like he's a fan of Yi's game and talent, doesn't sound like he has given up on him like a number of fans on this board.

Agreed. He seems to love Bogut and Yi - although he might not be as thrilled with Bogut after tonight's piss-poor effort and he seems to place a value on Redd's ability to score. His quotes sounded like those are the three players he'll build around initially. Long-term, if the right deal for Redd comes along he'll make it then. I can't see how Mo and Villanueva fit into the type of team he wants to form based on his opinions. They are 180 degrees removed from that. And we know if Van Gundy gets the job he'll likely strongly advocate breaking up the Mo-Redd backcourt. I'd be interested in how Carlisle views them.

Then he has to get in a coach who has a dominant personality and make Redd a better player!

If you ask me he is the first one who should go if he cannot make his team better and move off the ball, pass, rebound, defend, and catch
and shoot and use the drive when he has it.

Keeping Redd only works if you have an experience and strong head coach who can also lead and get players to buy into what he is doing
or call them out or sit them down!

He could be committing to players, but he could be inflating the value of his assets. From his language, I have to guess that he genuinely likes Yi and Bogut. Yi has a lot in common with Rasheed, actually.

But more than anything, it sounds like he's preparing us for the eventuality of any trade. He's saying that no matter who it is you like, there's a chance that I'll trade them. Or more concisely: Anyone's available for a price.

He was asked about Redd and gave him about as strong of a vote as LK. I'm sure if he was asked about Mo, he'd say lightly veiled nice things too. He's new to the team and needs to keep his assets' value up.

Redd is gone. Good riddance.

The guy is an embarrassment on the court.

In my view, playing with Mo as your PG infects your team like zombie bites. Everybody gets lethargic and selfish and stops seeing the team. Redd included.

What Sessions demonstrates for me isn't that he's a stand out talent, but that a point who acts like a point makes this team better. If management wants to keep Michael around for a year and see how he adjusts to the new system and a new PG, I'm OK with that.

In the broadcast (before I switched to an old episode of the A-Team that was a hoot) Paschke said he left the building recently with Coach K and commented something like, Damn, it's refreshing to have a point guard who passes the ball and plays a lick of defense.

Sounds to me like Mo is Dead Man Walking too...

About 3-4 months ago I was all about trading Redd but now that I have seen some potential in Sessions, I am more about trading Mo. I also think that while Redd is selfish, he can be coached and he will alter his game for the betterment of the team. I don't know why I think that but its a gut feeling I have. Mo has been great fun to watch and the most exciting game I have ever watched has been the Mo game winner over Indy but I just don't think a champion could ever win with him unless he was a 6th man or had very good defenders at many other positions backing him up. For some reason, I just feel if you brought in a hard nosed respected player who was a great defender and vocal leader and a coach who commanded respect, Redd would start to put forth consistent effort on defense and become a better team player on offense.

Yes and that makes all the sense in the world imo.

These 3 are keepers. CV and Mo should be on the block and the rest whatever happens, but I would guess the hard workers like Bell would stay.

I don't think trading Redd, Mo would be considered a unpopular move. I think the majorty of the educated Bucks fan who accually knows whats been going on will all agree one or the other or even both have to go.

The only players we all like is probly Bogut and Sessions and if you traded one of those guys that would be a unpopular move.

The general Bucks fan base is different than the significant segment of the fan base you will find here on this board though.

Among the general fan base, Redd and Mo Williams are still more popular than Bogut, and many of them had no idea who Sessions was until/unless they saw him playing in some of these recent games.
