Yeah the Times' Mike Jones (who?) has a little blog thing over there that few people seem to notice, nobody really comments on. He's been doing a pretty good job since taking over for John Mitchell mid-season. Just recently tho' he got a little testy at Gil for freezing out the media this past stretch and taking potshots at the Knottball-- a mistake IMO, anything that may limit your access in the future doesn't serve your reading public well.
Anyway if I remember right the Etan thing was from that blog. HIs heart is fine, his sternum just needs to rebuild bone strength, which takes time.

But with GA back playing the only remaining injured player that we have no update on is Etan.
I want some news.
I'm a little torn about getting him back though.
I would love to have to extra muscle on this team. Basically, Etan sitting on the bench instead of OP.
But at the same time, we are mixing GA back in and I fear to much change with so little time. Chemistry is a funny thing.
I haven't heard anything much about Etan and Haywood. Haywood seems to have matured a lot this year so hopefully that isn't a problem.
I just don't know. Like I said. I'm torn.
I guess if we are in a series and we think we need him, we can suit him up then.

If Etan shuts it down for the season, I can understand and respect that. However, it would be nice to have him available for emergencies during the playoffs to match up against powerful bench bigs like Maxiell and Big Baby. Blatche tends to match up well with live bodies like Varejao and Joe Smith, but he sometimes struggles with burlier players. Being able to throw Etan's bulk in there as a change of pace would be a nice luxury.
To those who are afraid that a healthy Etan would mean a steady supply of DNPs for Blatche and sub-20 min games for Wood, I'd point out that, so far, EJ has shown a healthy amount of restraint with Gil's minutes. I'd wager that, should Etan be cleared to return, he'd using Etan even more sparingly.

Nahh. I don't think there are many out there worried that an active Etan would mean that for AB, though there are obviously more chances to use him then there are for OP. If he was healthy 15 games ago this would be more of a concern but not this late in the game.
But as I was saying, having him available to bang could come in handy.
So, where is the news from the team. Is he in or is he out ?

I would expect a reporter to talk to EG or EJ.
I'm surprised there is no information. I could understand going long periods while you know he was out for months but I thought he was practicing. You think you would he something. Specially with the playoffs around the corner.

There was news on Etan maybe a week or two ago. They said his sternum was still not fully healed.

Bump for archive purposes. Some classic Etan debate in this thread.

I was thinking 'wait a minute. It's not april 1st'
