I hate ignorant people who don't have a clue about what's going on. It makes me sick.

I understand you are rather passionate about this situation, bu you never want to let your passion displace your emotional stability. You must learn to temper your passion. Some of us just want to know the specifics. So let me ask you, since you are so well informed. Where did the emails come from, David Stern's donated Blackberry? Clay Bennett's Dell XPS Laptop? That's what I'm trying to find out...

Already mentioned this on the main board, but just in case people aren't checking there:

If we want to get this some media attention, I would suggest we digg this story

What point are you trying to make? That these e-mails are made up? I'm not a lawyer, I don't know how you go about finding someone's e-mails, but I'd consider it some form of public record.

Read this article I found, it might answer some of your questions...I don't know if it is of any help, but I'm not specialized in law.

Electronic discovery (also called e-discovery or ediscovery) refers to any process in which electronic data is sought, located, secured, and searched with the intent of using it as evidence in a civil or criminal legal case. E-discovery can be carried out offline on a particular computer or it can be done in a network.

isn't this just part of the discovery phase? this happens all of the time. lawyers ask for specific documents that pertain to the case and the other party is then compelled to produce them. i know we have some lawyers here, so could someone please explain this to zealot so that we can move on. i really think this is a minor point.

That's about all there is to say. If UZ is implying that the city somehow hacked into Bennett's computers or stole Blackberries, that's just silly.

there is legal precedent everywhere for retrieving email and cell phone records for the purpose of discovery by lawyers preparing a case. email and cell records are all public information. if you knew clay bennets, david sterns, lebron james, paris hilton, or jenna jamesons cell #, you could pay $20 on line and get a complete printout of who they called and texted and who called and texted them and when.

the only thing shady with these emails coming out is the content of the emails and that fact that the commissioner of the NBA is in bed with these hick slimeballs
