Pistons Style Player Characteristics

Post#1 » by beastieboyz » Mon Apr 14, 2008 1:00 am

Some thoughts I had when I thought of what type of players the Pistons have went for (starters especially). Maybe this would point to how the Bucks will look somewhat. Then again, this it's a new situation for our new GM so maybe he'll look at it from a little different angle considering the current pieces the Bucks have already. Anyways here's my list:

-Strong or physically imposing for their position and willing to use their size to their advantage
-Good decision maker
-All around player (willing to play defense, pass, etc)
-Preferably can shoot the ball well inside/outside
-Willing to do the dirty work and grind it out to get a win
-Not flashy necessarily
-Willingness to embrace a team concept assuming that the environment is good/stable
-Some NBA experience prefered
-Will take a player or two known to have an attitude
-Needs some bench players who play good d-fense, maybe a couple outside shooting specialists

Look I understand that Hammond was part of the success with the Pistons, but we're not trying to rebuild Detroit in Milwaukee. They're the most all around team in the NBA and they truly are one of a kind. Trying to copy their roster player for player simply isn't possible.

Hopefully Hammond will use what he learned in Detroit to create a Bucks team that has their own identity. I understand that the team concept is huge, and I strongy support it.
