RoseorBust Best player in NBA: Duncan or LeBron?

Post#1 » by penbeast0 » Sun Apr 13, 2008 8:53 pm

If you have a title contender this year and you can built it around any one player in the NBA for this year and the future, what player do you take?

Tim "The Big Fundamental" Duncan

LeBron "The King" James

LeBron obviously if it's for the future. LeBron much closer if it's for just this year or next year or whatever.

I'd take Duncan pretty easily. He's easier to build around, has a smaller ego, and can dominate both ends of the court.

If I'm just building to win a championship one year, I take Duncan no question.

If you include building for the future as well, LeBron no question.

I would take Duncan, because he's my favorite player and he's done everything for my team..but Lebron James is easily better than Tim right now..Lebron is the best in the NBA, and will be for a while..

lol... LeBron...

This is pathetic that people have voted for Duncan. The guy is an old fart, how do you want to build around him now and in the future.

Duncan is still one of the league's elite, but he is indeed starting to decline slightly. I'll take LeBron now and for the future. Build a team around LeBron that is on par with TD's supporting cast (two other star players, an elite defender, a great coach, and a bunch of role players who really know their roles) and he would win championships left, right and center.

For example, just take the Spurs, switch LeBron with Duncan, and to keep the team properly balanced (star PG, star wing, star big), switch Manu with a similarly skilled PF, someone like David West, and you have a killer team:

Coach: Pop

PG: Parker/Stoudamire
SG: Bowen/Finley
SF: LeBron James/Udoka
PF: David West/Bonner
C: Oberto/Thomas

Best player in the league? Neither.

Who would I want between the two? LeBron.

LeBron. Duncan is still a great defender, but he can't consistently take over games offensively anymore.
