What would it take to get D Rose?

Post#1 » by wadero » Mon Apr 14, 2008 9:15 pm

Derrick Rose is the best PG I have seen in a very long time. We should try everything in our power to get him. What would it take to move up and get him or what would you give up to get him?

Derrick Rose is one of those talents you see once in a decade. Unless we get Yao involved in a deal, we have no other assets to get him. I am not sure about McGrady either.

Probably Yao, and we wouldn't do that, so there's nothing we can offer that they'd accept or we'd accept. Too unrealistic.

Exactly!! Because he hasn't played an NBA game, I think it would be easier to get him relative to him playing in an NBA game and doing decent. It depends on the team that gets the first pick, however. If the team is decent, I'm sure they would take T-mac + crap for the first pick, especially in a win-now league, but would you trade T-mac for the #1 pick? I'd have to sleep on it.

Only if we part with Yao.
If he gets his jumper just to respctable , he will be better than Deron and CP3 imo.
His jumper is not very good but not terrible right now.

It's impossible to determine for certain how players will adapt to the NBA game. Maybe Rose will be the next Chris Paul, but he could just as easily become the next Sebastian Telfair.

Anyone remember Harold "Baby Jordan" Minor?

his game doesn't resemble chris paul's at all. Its more like a young marbury... Marbury had good hops back then too.. He's an athletic freak, but i just saw his highlights.

If you've seen any Memphis game this season, you would have noticed that Rose has a pass first mentality and doesn't have an ego. Only when his team is down will he start taking the game on his shoulders.

we could easily get Rose for Yao if say Miami got the pick. I'm sure they would love a Wade-Yao combo...But giving up Yao for Rose is way too much.

If say, the Clippers were to get a top 4 pick, I would CONSIDER a few arrangements for Yao. But it would have to be like Brand+(Rose/Beasley/Gordon/Bayless) and even then, its a maybe.

Rose really wouldn't make much sense for us either.. We need someone who can create for himself and hit the jumpshot, if anything Mayo would be a better fit with us.

Depends... if you wanna take a more pure PG, you take Rose. You want a scorer, you take Mayo. I like Rose on this team more than I like Mayo.

Rose may very well end up being the better player in the future, but he's not what we need. His jumper is very shaky and he still hasn't shown consistent ability to create for himself. Our main problem is finding a 3rd scorer that can create and hit the open jumpshot. Mayo fits that bill much better than Rose does.

You are contradicting yourself. Being able to create for yourself doesn't equal to hitting an open jumpshot. So what is it that we need?

I do agree that Mayo might be a better open shooter, but Rose is equally talented if not better in terms of his ability to create his own shots off the dribble. I like Rose better for this team.[/b]
