Why didn't this work?

Post#1 » by GrapeApe » Mon Apr 14, 2008 8:45 pm

I figured I could thwart my opponent from streaming by doing the following. I dropped my lowest ranked player and picked up the 12th best available player who plays tomorrow. I then dropped him and replaced him with the eleventh ranked player. I continued doing this until I added the best available player to my team.

I figured this way I would have the best available player and the next 11 best players would not be available until after the playoffs because they would be on the waiver and not free agents.

But when I looked at the available players all the guys I added and dropped were still free agents. Does a player have to be on your roster for a day before become a waiver candidate? Oh, well, I thought it was a good plan.

i suppose you are playing on yahoo. that used to work until 2 years ago, but then they(whoever makes the rules) changed it so that player picked and dropped on the same game day will not be placed on waivers, but those moves will still count against your move count. i guess they wanted to prevent people from using that tactic. i can see a logic to it in leagues with unlimited moves, but in leagues with move limit i myself would allow people in your situation to use it

Right. Dropped players will go to waivers only if they were on a roster at the previous night's cutoff time (3am EST).

If both you and your opponent are streaming then you're going to be fighting for FAs daily. Schedule your adds in advance and try to pre-empt him. Even if you can't keep him away from those twelve FAs, you can still keep him away from one or two.
