Sparky Farmers Insurance Postgame appreciation thread

Post#1 » by paulpressey25 » Tue Apr 15, 2008 3:50 am

Sparky is now wrapping up the last postgame show of the year.

I want to thank Sparky, WSSP and Farmers Insurance for the sponsorship. The season has again sucked, but at least we've got an outlet. Amazingly some guys from overseas even tune in on the web.

Sparky.......this one is for you.

I called in tonight and thanked him and sincerely meant it. Sparky is one of us and could easily be a poster on this board and we would welcome him with open arms. He has that type of personality. Sparky is 1250 WSSP!!!!

Sparky is the best......Garry and Cliff are the worse.

Sparky is a true Wisconsin sports fan unlike Garry and Cliff....Garry is a Alabama guy (or whatever) who went to UW and he claims he knows everything about sports in Wisconsin and Cliff is a NY guy who tries his best to talk Wisconsin sports but I cannot respect that.

we need more guys like sparky, he cares about our teams as much as I do maybe even more. I may disagree with him at times but I am with him all the way because at the end of the day he wants what we all want.

major props to sparky for my favorite show.

He's like a big market guy on the radio tuned into Bucks Brewers etc.

Such an asset in the Bucks world to have Sparky out there as a media force.

Does caring have to equal annoying?

Does caring have to equal whining?

I especially lost respect for Sparky after he suggested Redd "choked" in a 2-point home loss to the Blazers on 3/11/08 AFTER Redd scored the team's final 10 points of the game on crazy, delicious forays to the hoop, one-after-another.

It seems Sparky loses all objectivity and just goes on wild, raving rants about whatever he can scapegoat conveniently.

Negative, non-objective (inaccurate), whiners are a big turnoff!

Tell me about it. He used to be really good when i listened to him in '99-'01 up in Madison, but since he moved to FSR he is just terrible.

Anyways...thanks Sparky. The post-game show has turned into a group therapy session, but hopefully in a year or 2 it will be like a little victory party after every game.

I was at the game mentioned ... Redd did not choke. He carried the team to the brink of victory and got zero from his teammates. The missed FT wasn't short off the front-iron (the classic sign of a choked shot). It hit the bracket first and then rattled the rim about 3 to 4 times before rattling out. The missed FT just meant the Bucks lost by 2 instead of 1, anyway. It wasn't the reason the team lost. Redd was the sole reason the team was even close to begin with.

As for MY complaining, I'm NOT complaining about Redd in loose-cannon, loose-tongue, loose-brain fashion. :wavefinger: :noway: :banghead: :pityfool:

I can't believe this season is over. It flew buy. Loss after loss they all rolled into one.

I remember Redd choking on FT's actually there have been a few games where he has choked

I'm one of the overseas guys who regularly tuned into Sparky's post-game show (and sometimes by accident the bloody Admirals). He's a bit of a nutter with a voice like a blender full of broken glass but he was usually entertaining. Of course the star callers like plamenco and dan of new berlin made it enjoyable too :)

Keep up the good work next year, Steve!

Thanks Sparky. I finally got to know you this year a little bit at the post game shows and I am glad I did. You are one cool guy but we have to get you out with us some night just to hang out. Unfortunately now you have the Brewers show going on too which means that it might be more difficult now than ever but nonetheless, I will send you a message via myspace sometime. If there are "Sparky's guys" like Doug R. says, I suppose I am one of them.

Whats really funny is how the board has adopted Sparky as being "our guy" as well. I remember in the early WSSP days, half this board hated Sparky it seemed. Now we look at you as one of our own even though you don't post. Either way, we appreciate your honesty and integrity when covering the Bucks and your courage to ask the tough questions. Lord knows no one else in the local media does it or at least does not do it until it becomes the fashionable thing to do when everyone else is doing it.

Of all the broadcasters, who else in our market cares as much about the Bucks and WI sports in general than Sparky? His show is more like sitting around talking Bucks with your friends than the preachy, know-it-all crap we get from everyone else.

Props to Sparky - we're lucky to have him!
