Dwight #5 on ESPN.COM's MVP Ballot

Pleases me...I could not see Dwight being put ahead of LeBron, Kobe, KG, or Paul.

Next season Dwight should make the leap to be in the top 3 all season...hopefully at least.

I think this is the year Kobe gets it, though I think Chris Paul is most deserving THIS season. I just think the voters are going to say "it's a toss up, and Kobe is one of those guys that deserves an MVP...Paul will have plenty of chances to win it since he's younger".

Kinda surprised the KG love has fallen off so much.

Henry Abbott (#5)
Howard is a distant fifth. But without him, the Orlando Magic would be sorely hurting. And imagine how effective Howard could be if, like Amare Stoudemire, he played on a team with multiple scoring threats to thwart double teams, easy ball movement, faster pace, lots of players who can throw the lob and Steve Nash.

Maurice Brooks (#5)
Simply put, remove D12 from the Magic and they go from Southeast Division champions to "I hope they select our pingpong ball at the NBA lottery" status.

Tim Legler (#4)
Take a look at what Howard has meant to his team. The Magic have one of the best frontcourts in the league, and he is the anchor offensively and defensively. Orlando's success is a good story, and Howard has brought consistency to the table all season.

Chris Palmer (#5)
Howard emerged as the best young center since Shaquille O'Neal. No one this young has ever rebounded at such a clip. Someday Howard may have a mantel filled with MVP trophies, but for now he'll just have to be satisfied with rounding out the top five. For the record, this spot could just as easily go to Carlos Boozer.

Chris Sheriden (#4)
It's not Howard's fault that he plays on the most underappreciated team in the entire NBA. He's the game's most dominant big man. (Sorry, Yao and Amare, and you understand, Shaq.) Plus, Howard never takes a night off.

David Thorpe (#4)
Howard is the league's most dominating player inside the paint. He's even more impressive when you consider he has no other "power" player to help him. He doesn't just destroy his opponents with dunks, boards and blocks; he gets them into foul trouble, too. He's learned to compete harder and longer, providing production and leadership every minute he's on the floor.

ON SURPRISING NOTE...

Hedo Turkoglu...

Jemele Hill (#5)

Dwight Howard is the star, but Turk established himself as the Magic's go-to player. Turkoglu improved in every statistical category and showed he's much more than just a shooter. And the Magic leapt from a walkover No. 8 playoff seed to a No. 3

Jemele Hill continues to show why no one respects her, lol. Turk has been great, but Dwight is the MVP. Without Dwight, Turk would struggle a lot more. He'd do ok, but he benefits a lot from Dwight.

Great notes from all of them though. I especially like seeing some respect from Chris Sheridan.

Thanks for reaffirming, Jamele.

For what it's worth...

Without Garnett this season, the Celtics are 8-2.

Besides, he's still 3rd overall, so it's not like he's getting overlooked.

It is interesting that Howard is the leading Center to get votes, but that the media only predicts Howard as second all NBA. Very curious!

Jemele Hill is just there for shock factor. Because they know she is gonna pull some idiocy out of her ass to get attention. I freaking love Hedo but the MVP of this team is Dwight. This teams starts and ends with Dwight Howard.

Yeah, this is Kobe's year. He's been the best player in the league for a long time now and no MVP love. It's time for that to change.
