Keep in mind that Ted was instrumental in bringing MJ to the Wiz. He was the driving force behind that whole arrangement.

Yeah but IIRC at that time both the Wiz and caps were bad and Leonsis was bleeding chips all over the place. He had to roll the dice on something - anything - to try and get out of the red, and possibly at the same time move Abe closer to the door.

If Abe truly is stepping down and seeing how both the Caps and Wiz are having at least mild success, I don't think see Leonsis looking for anymore gimmicks. All he has to do now is keep the teams moving forward and increase the fan base.

Leonsis would spend the money to make this team a contender. I would love if he was the majority owner.

The complete overhaul of the Caps is now looking like it was the right move.

I think Leonsis will be fine but let's not say it's because he'll try to
make the team better. Angelos and Snyder try to make the team
better but it doesn't make them good owners.

I'll tell ya'll this. I saw Abe backstage at the Wizards game last night...bless his heart but from what i saw, I wouldn't even give him another year and if he wasn't a millionaire, he would be gone already-sad to say.

Also, from a fan's perspective you guys might think Leonsis taking over is a great thing. However for the people that actually work for Abe and for the organization, it would be a huge loss and I'm pretty sure a lot of people will leave with him. A lot of people might clown him or call him cheap but you would be hard pressed to find a better guy to work for.

Naw, I like and admire Uncle Abe and wish him the best. I like Teddy dotcom too, but the one doesn't rule out the other. One thing I've always appreciated about Abe Pollin is his stubborn loyalty to his people. I can imagine this would endear him to folks who work for him. A good heart has Mr. Pollin.

That would be frickin insane. Then we could go back to our 60's look (which was the best IMO) with the Navy Blue & Orange...although those are Bobcats colors. Screw them though, it's a dirfferent orange.

Leonsis might be as stubborn and loyal as Abe. Hes stuck with George McPhee for all these years even though McPhee is nothing good as a GM and still has his job because he managed to luck into the #1 pick and Ovie. Leonsis is a loyal guy who would do anything for a winner and he holds his fan base in high regard.

btw doesn't Abe also own the lease on Verizon Center? Does Leonsis get that too?

Yes. The Verizon Center is part of the deal too.
