Why isnt anyone talking about this? Re: Nellie

Post#1 » by magicfan4life05 » Tue Apr 15, 2008 2:09 pm

Why did he bench arguably his best and most important player last night. I understand he was playing badly, but you're not going to win on the road w/o him. He said "he needed rest." He didnt play at all in the second half.

CMON?!?!

This is the playoffs you're trying to get in, leave it all on the floor, and he's your best chance to win, and you take him out?

Are they going to bring him back next season?

I seriously doubt nellie and baron can coexist next season after this, he basically embarrassed his superstar for no good reason execpt to ensure to miss the playoffs.

Baron was ice cold last night, and the team did really well w/o him in the 3rd. Phoenix only surged back in the last couple of minutes, and I don't think putting in a cold Baron would have been the right thing to do.

The warriors played better with him on the bench, so really it was a good decision by nellie.

LMAO....Can Baron coexist with anyone? he is easily the most uncoachable player in the NBA.

Even if Baron was cold, he deserved a shot in the second half to snap out of it. You can always take a player out when he's playing poorly, and if the 2 for 13 performance had continued in the second half, Nellie could have benched him at the first opportunity. Leaving Davis on the bench like that wasn't a good choice IMO.

Seriously. He should take his PO and cash in on his first healthy season since the Hornets left Charlotte. He just turned 29. if he waits a season nobody is going to pay as much for 30-year-old PG with a history if injury problems.

Baron is younger than several stars in the league, and is healthy. What's with all this hate for him? Why isn't anyone bashing the Thugz for being the most criminal team ever? Their "star" just got a DUI, and pretty soon they'll be shooting guns after they're out of the PO's.

Even if he was cold. There's no reason why he shouldn't of been in the game at the end. He's at least earned that right on the team. Even on a bad shooting night Baron will still get you 7-9 assists.

yeah, somehow speedy claxton and dale davis doesn't compare to two first round picks, a top 20 first round pick rookie, and a promising european prospect. baron davis was traded because he was a headache.

Indeed. I don't care if he's cold, its incredibly stupid to have your est player benched in the fourth in a game that you need to win to stay in the playoff hunt.

Get real, our playoff hunt ended when Denver beat Houston two days ago.

Denver could easily lose to Rudy Gay and the Grizzlies. We still had hope if Nelly got his head screwed on straight.

There was a mention in the Phx paper this morning that Baron was at a Sunday night birthday party. That may have played a role as well, ie a little too much to drink possibly.

Radio here reports Baron Davis was out partying all night Sunday into the wee hours of the morning in celebration of his birthday -- the night before the game that decided whether the Warriors made it to the playoffs this year. He was so hung over at last night's game that Coach Don Nelson benched him the entire 2nd half as the Warriors lost to Phoenix and were eliminated from playoff contention with just one game remaining in the season.
