If the Lakers win tonight against Sactown, the Lakers clinch the 1st seed which in turn clinches the Hornets the 2nd seed who plays the Clips.
On Wednesday, we play the Hornets.
Denver who is 1 game back and has the tie breaker over us plays the hapless Memphis Grizzlies.
For us to have the best possible chance to advance, we need to do the following.
Just Win Baby!

If we could just close games with Luka, Kyrie, Green, Maxi, and Wood that'd be great...

Assuming no visiting, lottery-bound team upsets a playoff team on the playoff team's home court within the next two days, the playoffs would hindge on 2 games. 1) 7/8 seed, Dallas vs New Orleans and 2) 3,4,5 & 6 depend on Utah at San Antonio without Manu.
visiting, lottery-bound team playing a playoff team on the playoff team's home court
Tuesday:
Kings at Lakers
Clippers at New Orleans
Wednesday:
Grizzlies at Nuggets
Clippers at Rockets
Blazers at Suns
So based off that assumtion, the Lakers clinch 1st. The Hornets clinch 2nd (with the win against the Clippers, YDM). So NO could wrap it all up and have nothing to play for on Wen. Based off those assumptions, the standings look like this:
57-25 Lakers
56-25 Hornets
55-26 Spurs
54-27 Jazz
55-27 Rockets
55-27 Suns
50-31 Mavericks
50-32 Nuggets
1st pivital games: Dallas beats NO, Dallas is #7 and plays NO in the 1st round. Dallas loses to NO, Dallas become 8 and plays LA in 1st round.
2nd Pivitol game: Spurs beat Jazz, then 3) Spurs, 4) Jazz, 5) Rockets, 6) Suns. However, id the Jazz beat the Spurs, it is 3) Jazz, 4) Suns, 5) Rockets, 6) Spurs.
Still a lot to be decided in the last 2 days of the regular season.

Spurs can drop from 3 to 6 with a loss, wow! That would give the Suns a home court series too. Ironically, the team the Spurs would play in either situation would be the Suns. It's all about home court for them...

Yes if the Hornets beat the Clippers. If the Clippers beat the Hornets...well, we open a hole other can of worms.JapanAir21 wrote:What do we have to do to get the 7 seed to make sure we play the Hornets? It's only between them and the Lakers now right? I tried reading through, but I got lost
To get Hornets in the 2/7 bracket, the Hornets need to beat the Clippers and Dallas needs to beat the Hornets.
Of course, if the Lakers lose to the Kings, the Hornets beat the Clippers and Mavericks and Denver beats Memphis, we will see the Hornets in the 1/8 bracket instead of the 2/7 bracket.
Head hurting yet?

Just an update.
Division champs are set Lakers, Hornets and Jazz
Lakers clinch #1 seed.
Hornets clinch #2 seed
If Dallas beats New Orleans OR Denver loses to Memphis tomorrow, then Dallas plays New Orleans on the 2/7 bracket. If Denver wins and Dallas loses, we play LA on the 1/8 bracket.
The rest is still the same.
If Rockets beat Clippers and Suns beat Blazers, then the rest is up to the winner of San Antonio vs Utah.
Spurs beat Jazz, then 3) Spurs, 4) Jazz, 5) Rockets, 6) Suns.
Jazz beat Spurs, then 3) Jazz, 4) Suns, 5) Rockets, 6) Spurs.

These playoff scenarios are coming together. But if we had won against Portland and OKC, we still would not be in a position to move up in the seeding. Instead, we would have necessary momentum to go into the playoffs with. Hopefully a victory over CP3 and the rest of the Cats would do the trick...
