duhon and pietrus with mle??????

Post#1 » by thaAteam » Wed Apr 16, 2008 1:56 am

its clear the mavs need and upgrade at backup pg and sg this offseason, i love jr smith but hes shooting his way into the full mle so maybe the mavs can sign chris duhon to backup kidd and pietrus as the starting athletic 2 guard. i would love to see if we can sign and trade terry for maggette, maybe get duhon and bring back diop but that looks like a stretch right now

We need to address the backup center spot first imo. I would like Pietrus though if we still have the MLE left after that.

I don't think Duhon would be worth it. We only need a guy who can play about 12 mpg behind Kidd, and Lue has done a pretty good job of that. Re-sign him for the minimum rather than spend a bunch of money on another free agent.

If we can get both of them for the MLE (Pietrus 3.5, Duhon 2.1), then go for it and then trade Terry + others for a backup C like Dalembert of Camby.

If they request the full MLE, I'd pass as we have many options at backup PG (Barea, Lue, Anthony Jonson, Jason Terry, etc). I'm sure we can find better players at the full MLE amount.

I'd spend the MLE on a backup big man. But I'd prefer Duhon over Lue, if enough is left over. Pietrus really doesnt interest me at all.

I like Bass better than I like Pietrus, but I wouldnt mind Duhon (mostly because I am a Duke fan). Its obvious (as it is every year) that our biggest need this offseason is a center first and foremost.

I'm with everyone else. Bring in a center (not ready to call him a backup just quite yet) with the MLE. First and foremost priority...
If we could just close games with Luka, Kyrie, Green, Maxi, and Wood that'd be great...
