we will see, something tells me they will try to switch it up.

I could never say that about KG. Even though he is a great player. In some way even in his prime he is Joakim Noah with a jump shot and a little better post game. Outside of that they have the exact same skill set.

I've already given my take on who should be the MVP on page 73 of this thread...I chose Kobe:
http://realgm.com/boards/viewtopic.php?t=778290&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=864
In addition to that, I'd also like to add another important point about Kobe Bryants worthiness of this award:
Kobe Bryant is the Most Valuable Player in the NBA because he is the Most Valuable player TO the NBA...
... to every team... to every owner... to every other player... to every coach... to the season-ticket holders... to the viewers at home...
He's been here for so long and he's been a great player for so long that we take him for granted. But that has nothing to do with this season...
-What does have to do with this season is the fact that every owner owes a thanks to Kobe for atleast one of their sold out games. They want to cheer and jeer him.. and that drives the tickets and money through the roofs...
-Every TV announcer and every TV network that has carried the Lakers games this season owe it to Kobe... its no coincidence that the Lakers consistantly get national coverage...and its not because they are the Lakers...
-Every NBA store owes it to him for the jerseys he's selling.
-Every defensive specialist in the NBA who gets minutes owes it to Kobe (Raja Bell, Bruce Bowen and Tayshaun Prince all owe their fortunes in part to Kobe Bryant). He's the reason teams pay the big bucks for the Kobe stoppers...
-Lebron, CP3, Wade, Durant...all these young guys... They're all watching Kobe... thats who's competitiveness they are seeing with THEIR EYES... His example is why they will surpass him... his desire to extract as much from himself as he can...to do everything possible to win... that example makes these guys better...and that trickles down to the whole league...
You see, Kobe's contribution to the game of basketball...this season especially... and even every other season he's played...is in and of itself why he is the Most Valueable player TO THE NBA.... that is why you poll these guys and they all give you the same name...

The same intangibles Kobe brought by ripping his owner and GM.
I know you're speaking in green font but KG should've ripped the GM and Glen Taylor several years ago. We're talking about a guy that took a paycut in the prime of his career just to see his (very good) coach get scapegoated. That front office made so many horrible moves from trading Cassell and a first for Jaric, the Joe Smith situation, the Kandi situation, trading away Brandon Roy and Ray Allen, the Googs situation, overloading the team with combo guards etc.
KG wimped out and started crying on tv to John Thompson instead of blasting the people who needed to be blasted.

And isn't it Laker fans that love to talk about defense? Now that someone has actually had a huge hand in making his team one of the top defenses in the league, it is suddenly, what intangibles has KG brought?
He did but so did Paul Pierce and Ray Allen. All three of those guys could be and have been first options on solid teams. That's like a dozen all-star appearances suiting up to KG every night. Not to mention Pierce was getting some MVP love for a while this season. Again, if Kobe and Shaq kept each other from winning it then I don't see why this should be any different.

no, but YOU would be saying that
Uhh, no I wouldnt say that. So please dont put words in my mouth. I said according to the general criteria (a special case for this year's race) of this past month or so, Kobe should and will get MVP. The media nor 95% of you here didnt get into the specifics of the standings. I would imagine that some CP fans (not directing towards anyone) right now would point out the tiebreakers. But nonetheless Kobe is the MVP.
I believed Kobe should get MVP when NO was still the 1st seed. And in this tight race, where the top two teams are separated by 2 games at the maximum, standings shouldnt even be a factor. Im just bringing up the general criteria.

When it is Chris Paul, stats don't matter and his defense isn't as good.
Stats don't matter when isolated from their causes and effects. Impact matters. Chris Paul doesn't have anywhere near the amount of impact as does Steve Nash. Not to mention that the Hornets are probably the 4th or 5th best team in the west.
When it is LeBron, his injury/holdout situation doesn't matter and his wins are too low, despite the fact Laker fans still contend Kobe was MVP on a 45-win team.
The Cavs were expected to be right were they are. No better, no worse. The Lakers overachieved to get 45 wins. No one picked them to do that especially once the injury bug hit. Big difference.
No love for holdouts. That's just bad team culture. Teams often take on the traits of their leaders and I think Lebron (or the FO) inadvertently bred this kind of action with his me, me, me attitude. Cavs players rarely seem to be happy playing there (See: Gooden, Hughes, and Newble) and are often just out for a big money grab. Every now and then there are an uncontrollable amount of bad apples but I don't think Andy is one.

1. He didnt need an all star to be traded to his team to have a good year unlike kobe.
the lakers were in the number one seed, battling back and forth with other teams, before any gasol trade. that post became irrelevant quickly.

This has absolutely nothing to do with Kobe not believing in his teammates and ripping his owner and GM to shreds for giving him insufficient talent to compete.
I don't care what kool-aid you want to drink or how much you want to spin things, the fact of the matter is Kobe said himself, via his actions, that he didn't feel his squad was good enough to compete and it was his GM and owners fault.
You know we signed Fish in the offseason and traded two other players for Ariza about 7 games into the season, right? Hard to say we had the same lineup when two of our biggest upgrades (Ariza over Luke/Cook, and Fisher over Smush) weren't even on the team before. Hell, Ariza and Fisher were/are starters.
