We traded James in the deal for Bobby Jackson. It'd likely be B-Jax starting with Brooks backing him up.

That's right! I forgot about the whole Bonzi/MJ thing.

Bobby Jackson's a solid player. Brooks is probably going to be abused six ways from Sunday, but Jackson will fill in nicely.

It doesn't matter, anyone one our team defends Williams better than Rafer. I am glad Rafer is gone, I think that favors us more than you guys IMO. This man likes to challenge 1 on 1 during an NBA game. He acts like a fool by trash talking to players that are better than him then getting owned by them. I am seriously glad he will be out for the first 1-2 games. I hope he doesn't start when he gets back, ESPECIALLY IF WE HAVE WON THE FIRST 1-2 GAMES. We have to continue the chemistry.

I do find it hilarious when Alston gets in people's faces as if he's their equal, or even a decent player.

The more I think about it, as many of you just said, the more I think this will actually be a good thing for you guys. Bobby Jackson is just flat-out a better player.

We're allowed 1 inactive player on the playoff roster so put Alston on the inactive list and give Loren Woods some minutes somewhere

he can guard Okur or Oberto or Diaw for at least a couple of minutes to let Mutombo rest and we'd still have a shot blocker in the middle
Harden is still a work-in-progress. He can score, but he can't help his teammate that much - Yao Ming

There are how many 50+ win teams? 7 maybe 8 (Denver). That says tons about the degree of difficulty in the West. If somebody would of told me at the begining of the season we'd be #1 for any part of the season, I would have laughed (but we were). We've done decent with Yao/Mac out which says a lot also about our depth, which has been a huge problem in the past. We have a somewhat bright future with our young guys. Overall it's been one of the better seasons in recent years. As a longtime Rocket's fan, I'm happy for that.

 This year and 2004-05.

 (although I think several still would, depending how good he played the game before)

our team has a history of stepping up when the time calls for it...when battier went down we destroyed the suns. When yao went out we won 10 straight.. I expect our team to pick up the slack like always when something like this happens..at least i hope we do

We better hope we play the Suns in the 1st round. That way Brooks can use his speed against the Suns.

Brooks's speed, if used properly, would be most effective to penetrate against Utah's weak interior defense. Let's hope Aaron gets the memo (pun intended  ).

Rafer Alston wasn't going to help anyway. No point in getting upset about that. The only thing we could use him for is some of that marginally good defense he plays. He hasn't been a plus offensively since the end of the streak.

Funnier than that is the people who are still glad that he's injured now. It's one thing to have your head stuck in the mud, it's another thing entirely to fight to keep it in there while people are trying to yank you out by the feet even though you're suffocating.

Alston out again
Rockets guard Rafer Alston stepped up his work Sunday, but said he is out, as expected, tonight.

"I'm shooting for (Game) 3," Alston said. "These days, I'm trying to stay here as long as possible to try to get some extra work done.

"It hurts (to miss games). It bothers me to be down 0-1. But I can't take the chance to go earlier than possible. I feel a little better. I did pull it. It was more to the severe side than it was moderate. They say as the days go by I'll start to feel better."

With point guards Bobby Jackson and Aaron Brooks making four of 22 shots in Saturday's loss, Alston was missed.

"In defense of Bobby and Aaron, they are playing a guy who is probably one of the top five point guards in the league (Deron Williams)," coach Rick Adelman said. "We have to find a way to control him better. I think we will."
