Also that is a very ignorant way of looking at the situation. Rebuttal arguments are posted in the other Sonics threads.
I really do not want this thread to turn into one of the other two threads on here. If you disagree with the Sonics staying in Seattle, and or do not see how this is an NBA issue then that is fine. I would just ask those people to please not post in this thread as there are two other threads where disagreements are reasonable.
Also at this point many of the arguments for why teams should and should not move have been covered on one of the other threads. Rather then reposting the same question/arguments I would encourage people to do some reading of the other threads. If you would rather not read the other threads then please refrain from commenting at all.
Thank you all.
That is the most ignorant thing I've ever heard. Everyone who has one idea in one thread, everyone who has a different idea in another thread.
Let's segregate the ideas to avoid any real discussion on the topic. I mean this is an internet message board, it would be a travesty for people to post their thoughts and have people with differing opinions rebut those thoughts.

Maybe I didn't communicate what I was trying to say very well. What I was attempting to say was that there are two other threads on this general message board about how and why and why not the Sonics should move and Seattle supporting or not supporting the Sonics. All of these topics are being covered. I wanted this thread to be about the OP. Not about how you are too lazy to read the other threads. I don't think that is too unreasonable. Its not about segregating anything, its about keeping all the arguments together. Away from this thread.

Recently a group of cavalier and heat fans came to a Sonics blog and suggest we follow suit on what they have started. The idea is that these great fans of other teams created petitions to give to their owners saying that they want their owners to do what is right for the NBA and vote no on the issue of relocating the Sonics.
Despite the local momentum, much of how this all plays out will hinge on how the NBA Board of Governors will vote regarding the relocation bid. The vote is scheduled to take place in 2 days (April 17). Here

the point benneth was making is that the sonics are not leaving due to poor fan support. the fans of the team are outstanding. the issues involve the city and the lease and thats been discussed ad nauseum so why discuss it again in this thread?
this is about drumming up support to not allow an nba team to move that has no business moving. its bad for the league, all nba fans should support the people of city. it is just right vs wrong at this point

I think he's a scumbag for lying to everyone and not being honest about his intentions in the first place, but if the Sonics were selling out every night he would have no reason to move the team.
Fans aren't showing up because they don't want to give their money to Clay Bennett and the other lying Okies. Seattle has a great fan support record. We led the NBA in attendance 4 times, we were the first franchise to average over 20,000 fans a game in a season, we sold out every game in Key Arena in the 90's despite top 5 highest ticket prices in the league.
We have proven beyond a doubt we can support the NBA.

The address of the Sonics front office for those inclined to write (probably the most helpful):
That isn't helpful at all! We need fans of other NBA franchies to write their team and urge their owners to vote against the OKC move!

Business is Business. Sorry I offended you but maybe one day you'll understand.
This isn't business. If it was, the lying Okies wouldn't be extorting other Okie taxpayers for a subsidy because their market is too small to be NBA viable without the massive subsidies. This is thievery and cronyism.

I'm pretty sure lying, subsidies and cronyism are all a part of business, and not to mention politics, on a daily basis. I'm also certain they facilitate far worse things than sports teams changing locations.
I think it sucks that the team is moving but I don't think cities or fans have an inalienable right to corporate basketball teams. And for those saying you'd feel differently if it was your team isn't that hypocritical garbage? If you felt teams leaving cities violated your principles wouldn't you have already stopped supporting the NBA when the Grizzlies moved from Vancouver or the Hornets from Charlotte?
