Also, I never said Pops should be starting or anything like that, but he could be somewhere btwn scrub and role player. Obviously if the SF is Anthony, PF Martin and C Camby, Pops should see ZERO playing time in lieu of Bass, but if it is Aldridge, Frye, Durant, Yi, B. Wright or Biedrins, then I can see Josh Howard at the 2 guard next to Kidd because Josh Howard (along with anyone else on our roster) cannot guard those guys one on one. If nothing else, he is 6 fouls and can cause them problems. At best, we have a defensive stopper, great rebounder, good shot blocker and momentum changing dunker finishing for Kidd. Maybe Kidd even gets a triple-double.
i'm not talking about anything you said specifically, but in general there's been so much Pops talk on this board (last year and before this season) that I think we value him more than the Mavs and the rest of the NBA do. If he could handle the load, wouldn't he be on a team somewhere as a 15th man playing in the NBADL...unless i'm wrong and he already is?
Rayshawn, again, theres a reason he went into the second round. I don't think he'd have done anythign for us this year..same as Ager. I guess with Ager they figured they might as well see if he somehow got it together before making a final decision on him.
I'd prefer they go out and sign someone with the MLE or trade for someone who is a KNOWN commodity who can defend. doesn't have to be an all-star. who? i dont know, they get paid to figure it out.

What 3's do you think he can guard? The Josh Howard/Paul Pierce/Peja type of 3 or the Lamar Odom/Rashard Lewis type of 3.
And by the way, most of the players you named are power forwards and centers. That is probably the reason that Josh Howard cannot guard them.

JES, you may need to elaborate a bit on this statement. It's getting a lot of airplay, if ya know what I mean...
If we could just close games with Luka, Kyrie, Green, Maxi, and Wood that'd be great...

Thanks DFN, forgot about Rashard Lewis. Pops would be able to defend Lewis, IMO, but I never seen him play Lewis at all.dirtyfilthynasty wrote:-= original quote snipped =-

The others you named would be the days where he either does not dress or gets DNP-coaches decision because Howard is a better fit. But the 6'8"-6'10" small forwards Howard struggles against.

Okay, 1) he is quick and onther poster said he wasn't...quick can be looked up at www.dictionary.com. and 2) He misses many shots that are not at the rim and he misses a lot of FT's because he sucks at that portion of the game.your_dallas_mavericks wrote:JES, you may need to elaborate a bit on this statement. YDM, nope he just sux. He is a 6-7 small-framed center who went through 4 yrs in college ball, 1 with Dallas, and 1 in Europe and still has no game other than being able to jump high enough to get the very infrequent dunk. By your standard, he'll turn 60 with no game and he'll still be raw.
He's had enough time to at least start to develop, except he's stuck in neutral. It ain't happening. He sux.
