I wouldn't say NJ has an inferior frontcourt compares to the rest of the league.

We have Nenad Krstic, Josh Boone and Sean Williams who are all young and have shown promise. We also have Diop who's a servicable C and Stromile swift. Yeah swift has underachieved his entire career but as a backup he's ok compared to other backup PF/C's in the league.

Right now, none of those players are legit NBA starters. So i would say at this point NJ has one of the worst if not the worst frontcourts in the league.

The Kings don't have a great situation, but it's not that bad.

You failed to mention that while Brad isn't the best defender ("doesn't defend" is flat out wrong), you can also do things with him that you can't with pretty much any other center in the league. But of course putting him under the label of "perimeter big man" connotes nothing positive despite the fact that you can run an offense through him from his perimeter spot. The only other guys can do that with in the league are guys like KG.

Mikki--I agree with your assessment.

Shelden--I seriously doubt he'll be "out of the league" any time soon. Will he ever prove to have been worth the #5 pick? God no, but that doesn't mean that he deserves the irrational hatred that some give him on these boards. He's a fine post defender and a pretty good rebounder, he can score a little in the post and has a decent mid-range shot.

Spencer's D isn't great at this point, but frankly it's not that big of an issue. He's a good shotblocker and when he's focused, he's not a bad post defender. His rebounding is horrible at this point, but he still has a very, very, very bright future in this league. He does things that a 19-year-old center just shouldn't be able to do. Outside of this athleticism (which isn't nearly as bad as some think--about average for a center), all of his current weaknesses can be chalked up to normal rookie stuff--in experience and lack of a physical strength.

Kenny--fair enough.

SAR - Let's at least wait to see if he comes back healthy. If so, he could still be a fine scorer.

And like others have said, Artest plays significant minutes at PF.

the expirings that someone mentioned that the kings would have in several yrs is just, several years from now. right now they're multiple year commitments for little to no production. 4 of their 5 current largest contracts are to their big men (miller, SAR, thomas, moore). none of them are expiring this year or next. while i agree that talent wise they are a lot better than other teams, considering all aspects thats a pretty tough situation to be in.

Actually they're all expiring next summer. It will be a total of about $33million in expirings starting next summer.

yeah, we're talking about the same thing. i said they don't expire this year, meaning they aren't off the books right now. they aren't expiring next year either.

Kings situation isn't enviable... but not the worst... and dont worry about Smills TOS violations... everyone just ignores him now anyways

Memphis is obviously in the worst situation... what did they expect? They brought in Chris Wallace. Chris friggin Wallace. The guy who decimated the Celtics.

They are handcuffed into taking a post player now... and probably need a polished one. And the consensus is Brook Lopez.... which is fine by me, since the W's pick in the late lotto

Warriors are pretty bad. Asides from Biedrins, in the past 2 years, we've had Foyle, MBENGA, Barnes, Pietrus, Al, and Murph. When you have 2 SGs at center, you know your lineup's pretty messed up. Plus, we have a bunch of guys who don't play.
