I don't know. If Kareem signs elsewhere, we could use another long range option at the SG position to replace him. We then essentially have just Marquis at SG, and could play Diener out of position at SG. Graham and Granger could play out of position there too to backup Dunleavy.

Right now, the players we have under contract for next year are:

Tinsley/Diener
Dunleavy/Daniels
Granger/Williams
JO/Diogu
Foster/Murphy

With that said, Indy has a team option on Stephen Graham for next year. We then can tender a qualifying offer to David Harrison to make him a restricted free agent, while Andrew Owens and Kareem Rush are unrestricted free agents.

We are already at about $68.9 million in guaranteed salaries. Stephen Graham would cost us about $800,000. Harrison's qualifying offer is $2.6 million. The 10th-11th pick would cost us around $2 million. The luxury tax will likely be right at $70 million.

Long story short, we're going to need to cut a little bit of salary next year, or we're going to go over the luxury tax just to draft our new player and sign a 12th player to meet minimum league requirements.

I'm assuming at this point we'll end up being slightly above the tax...only way I think we avoid it is if we make a JO deal at the 125%.

In any case, we're going to need the last three or four guys at or around the min. I don't see a huge problem picking up Graham's option as one of them.
I have no idea what you're talking about, and clearly, neither do you.

I think we'll jettison Daniels or Tinsley or both and end up shaving enough off the cap number to stay below the tax level. I cant imagine the Simons paying the luxury tax for a team that isnt going to compete for a title.

I might keep track of this thread. Should give us some laughs late next season when we are way out of contention.

You also forgot that we will probably have our second round pick on the roster too. So thats another minimum salary guy occupying a roster spot..

Unless we pick a guy from Europe again, so we can stash him away for a few seasons.

We barely missed the playoffs playing most the season without O'Neal and Tinsley. Give Granger another summer to improve his game and a lotto pick. I doubt we'll miss the playoffs next year. I'm not saying JO will be healthy, but he will be healthier than this year - he finally got some rest. Tinsley will slightly twist his ankle and miss the season as usual though, so hopefully we draft a PG.

Speaking of drafting players in the second round and stashing them in Europe, does anyone here think we'll ever see Stanko Barac or Erazem Lorbek in a Pacer uniform?

If you're just counting training camp, I think we'll see both guys over here at some point, even if they get cut. At some point, they'll probably want to come over and either make a team, or at least get cut and open up their possibilities for the future.
