Houston underachieved for years with JVG at the helm. They finally have a breakout year, following his dismissal, when their premier center is on the shelf half the season.

He's just the polar opposite of the extreme emphasis on offense we've had in Milwaukee for years. Neither philosophy is conducive to maximum success. Last time I checked you defeat opponents by either scoring efficiently or preventing them from scoring efficiently. If you are devoid on either end you're going to suffer. He handcuffs his players with his grinding offensive sets. We have nobody who can command a double team, or score at the end of the shot clock efficiently, to justify that type of offense.

Detroit didn't reach the next level until they made the acquisition of Rasheed Wallace. Beforehand, they were still a very strong, over-achieving team (early on) under Carlisle's leadership. Indiana has regressed since Carlisle left. He's clearly the better option.
I agree completely. Although JVG is the more grizzled professional with the longer resume, I was very concerned watching how he coached the Rockets because I did feel like his style was almost counterproductive at times. Defensively they were good, but offensively you could see how his style completely hindered them from being the team they were capable of being. I also fear he would do the same here... (regardless of the talent).

The problem is when you have a guy like Bobby Simmons who is like the 8th man on a contending team, and Dan Gadzuric who shouldn't be in the league making a combined 17 million.

Gadzuric is like a 4th string center making 6 million/year. That is absolutely ridiculous.

What hurts a team more? A 3 million dollar player making 6 million or a 10 million dollar player making 18 million. I'd say the second because that contract is harder to move and keeps you from affording a Boozer or Marion.

I say both situations suck. Period.

Well, a monkey knows the things he said in this quote,
but I guess I agree.

I thought his analysis during our only nationally televised game was to the point and much more detailed in analysis.

Disagree.
Last year Yao/Tmac missed more game than this year combined.
You can easily up and say Rockets underachieved last year without taking into account that Jazz was in Western conference finals --- Rockets took them to game 7 and in that series the point difference is less than 20 points, not to mention this year Roxs got help from experienced vets like Bobby Jackson, Bonzi Wells, talented rookie Scola/Landry/Brooks.

FYI,for almost 1/3 of the season R.A used exactly the same starting lineups as JVG. Luis Scola started the rest of the season and remains the only starter change since JVG.

The three most overpaid players on this team preventing us from bringing in more talent are Simmons, Gadzuric and Max.

And if you had gone and allowed Larry Harris to complete that trade for Randolph as I begged them to do, we would be in the playoffs now and rid of those contracts.

Yes we would have still owed Randolph, BUT HE IS NO SCRUB! He would have been our best player...and you would have had room to trade Redd and play Bogut.

But all you were worried about was his 'character' and his losing past in Portland in the tough West and Pacific Divsion.

Hell, we don't win here with a boatload of 'character guys!'! So what does that matter.

Yes personal character and maturity matters on and off the court and some drunken driving infractions does not look pretty on Zach's resume'.

I will grant you that much...

But he like Carmelo are too talented to pass up when you had the shot to get him and dumped 3 losers (Bell, Simmons, Gadzuric) and quitters when you had the chance.

That is why organizations like the Bucks sit home and get ready to go fishing while other teams like the Hawks, Raptors, and Magic are going to the 'Big Show.'
