Who cares who we play, we are the favorites, especially in the first round so let's act it. I know thats the mentaility the lakers have. I just want to see the SUNS play the SPURS because I dislike both of those teams and that would be a wonderful series for me too watch. Let them destroy each other.

about that question you deleted, they don't recalculate. they just go by the hiest percentage on the original count, if there is a tie within that then they move on to the next tiebreaker rule. that rule is higher conference record.lakerfan10770 wrote:Magz50 wrote:First round will be:
Lakers vs Dallas
Spurs vs Houston
Utah vs Phoenix
NO vs Denver
I don't think this scenario is very likely....
I am assuming you think the seeding would be:
1. Lakers
2. Hornets
3. Jazz
4. Spurs
5. Rockets
6. Suns
7. Nuggets
8. Mavericks
In order for this to happpen:
Jazz have to beat the Spurs
Nuggets have to beat the Grizzlies
Hornets have to beat the Mavericks
Blazers have to beat the Suns
Rockets can win or lose vs the Clippers
This scenario requires the Suns to lose at home against the Blazers. The more likely scenario would be if both the Suns & Rockets were to win. Which would give Spurs, Jazz, Rockets, & Suns the same record. In that case they go to the tiebreaker. When three or more teams are tied, the teams are ranked by their win percentage against their fellow tied teams. If that were to happen then it would finish, Jazz, Suns, Rockets, Spurs.
It's crazy trying to figure this stuff out, but I would like to watch these games knowing the possible implications. Partly so I know who to root for, but mainly because I just like to be informed.

After I made that post, I found a good explanation of the tiebreakers on NBA.com, which of course answered the question. I didn't have the energy to put a big explanation, so I decided just to remove it. Hoping nobody saw it. Obviously you did, and I appreciate the info, thanks.....

Teams that win don't care who they have to play and where they have to play. Would I perfer a certain match up? Maybe, but I really don't care. That's just me though.

I agree, and I'm not saying we are for sure going to beat the Nuggets or Mavs. I think it doesn't matter who we play because either way we should win. However I know the last few years have left all of us humbled a little bit and thats fine but confidence is key to victory, where would sasha and vlad rad be without confidence.

Right, there is a fine line between confidence and arrogance...
i agree with you here, we should be able to advance past the 1st round but...it's always better to be humble now and being able to gloat after than gloating now and being humbled after.

We have their number. Plus, the Lakers are peaking just at the right time. Dallas aren't deep enough to beat us in seven games with home court advantage.
Now, if only Bynum could make a surprise comeback in game 3, then I'd guarantee it.
