Re-seeding the playoffs for better match-ups

Post#1 » by Bmoney » Thu Apr 17, 2008 7:14 am

Not traditional but much more exciting match ups in my opinion. Look at the 1st round match ups .

Boston(1)
Portland(16)
The young Blazers against the big 3's 1st playoff run together.

Phoenix( 8 )
Orlando(9)
Shaq returns to Orlando as he and Stoudamire battle Dwight Howard aka the new superman.

Golden state(12)
San Antonio(5)
Young high speed Warriors would give the Spurs a scare, see Dallas.

New Orleans(4)
Cleveland(13)
CP3 VS King James are you kidding me. It would be a, "I'll see that score & raise you. " Must see TV.
------------------

Lakers(3)
Washington(14)
Agent Zero, Caron Butler & Jaminson Take on Kobe the MVP. Between Kobe and Agent 0 someone's will bow to the audience.

Utah(6)
Denver(11)
Solid 1st round match up of teams that have 2 stars on each team. Deron/Boozer vs Iverson/Carmelo

Dallas(10)
Houston(7)
Inner state battle between these to Texas teams.

Toronto(15)
Detroit(2)
The Bad Boys are no match for these Raptors.

Possible 2nd round match-ups of

Boston
Phoenix

Spurs
Hornets

Lakers
Utah

Dallas
Detroit

Semi's

Boston
Spurs

Lakers
Pistons

Finals Boston over the Lakers

In my scenario you still get the 2 top seeds but there is much bigger room for upsets and better 7game series.

Look at Bostons run through Portland, Phoenix, The Spurs & The Lakers.
Now that is a champion. The current style Boston only has 2 tough series to the championship

That would be pretty fun to watch. they might as well...if the sonics move to oklahoma we would have a few teams playing out of division location wise.

NO should be in the east not the west and same wit hthe grizz....if sonics go to okc then the northwest division would be weird.

Nah, no reason for that kind of shift. It would just require some shifting of the divisions within the conference. If any team moves East it should be Minnesota, since they have the longest plane flights for games in their division. But generally I think the NBA tries to avoid moving teams between conferences if possible.

Here is a map of NBA teams.

The best shift would probably be taking Phoenix out of the Pacific and put them in the Northwest, and putting Portland in the Pacific. Then you leave the OKC Sonics in the former "Northwest" division, rename it the "Midwest" or something. Geographically it makes the most sense.

^^^ Makes the most sense and I actually have NO DOUBT whatsoever that Stern will do just that.

Portland is ont its own on an island over there and Minnesota is as well.

This enables Portland an easier travel sched within its division.

The issue still remains though about the whole travel thing.

Unfortunately, there's nothing anyone can do.

The east has FAR many more teams bunched together than the west.

You can never get away from that as the states themselves quite simply have FAR bigger land masses to the west, therefore, creating more travel time.
