I like Kurt Thomas and Diop. I think if we can get them at a reasonable price they'd be good backups during injury time. I don't see any guards I like. =/ I'd love to have Brand but I'm sure that's pretty impossible.

Are we bringing back Bonzi? More importantly though we should focus on fixing one issue at a time either point guard or power forward because the last thing we need is more scrubs

Wait don't you guys have to spend the MLE on Landry? The trade checker says he's a FA.

I dont know what to think about Landry. I thought we originally signed him to a 1 year deal, which i thought was just absurd at the time. I dont understand why we didnt just sign him to a 3 year deal like we did with Steve Novak. Hoopshype says we have a team option on Landry after this season.

As far as free agents. I would go after Diop or Elson. Bring back Deke and Mike Harris. Trade BJ + Luther for Mike Miller. And bring back a healthy Steve Francis.

PG: Francis, Alston, Brooks
SG: McGrady, Miller
C: Yao, Diop, Mutombo
SF: Battier, Harris, Novak
PF: Scola, Landry, Hayes

Landry is coming off a knee injury and still hasn't regained his full explosiveness. I expect teams will be leary of giving most of the MLE to a player who's had knee problems the past couple of yrs.
The Rockets could use the every 2 yr LLE,which would give him @$1.75mil and end of 3 yrs have full Bird Rights.

Of the list,my guess:
$8mil-Max
Iverson,Davis,J O'Neal,Brand,Arenas,Jamison,Artest,Marion,Maggette.

At least full MLE
Udrih,Biedrins.Ellis

Maybe Full MLE,but not likely. Prob +$3.5 to $5mil
Pietrus,Swift,Najera,Lafrentz,D.Wilkins

More than Min,Less than $4mil
Landry,Dooling,Duhon,Wright,Carter,Barnes,Ross,Croshere,K.Brown,R.Davis,J.Williams,Bonzi,Ely,Arroyo,Bogans,Giricek,J.Jones

The Celts resign all of their own they want.
The rest shold be mins, but it only takes 1 desperate GM.
Marbury is in a category by himself. If he opted out-which I see no freakin' way he does-I could see him at the min, partial or full MLE or some team desperate/silly enough to give him $8-9mil.

The thing this yr is there are alot of pretty decent FAs,but not too many teams under the Lux Tax,much less the cap.So most offers will be for portion of MLE,perhaps w/an early out for players-as everybody seems to be trying to set up huge cap room in 2 yrs.

1. Re-sign Landry is the 1st priority.

2. Backup C is another issues if Mutombo insists to retire. Woods may not have immediately impact. We need a veteran.

3. A better pg can facilitate our offense.

I wouldn't mind making a play for Corey Maggette. We also need a new starting PG. The West is packed with elite PGs, and Rafer remains at the bottom of the barrel.

i say sign Duhon and trade alston+Bobby J away, and try to deal for Richard Jefferson. I also wouldnt mind signing Patrick O'Bryant. I think he might be a good backup if we give him the time.

Return to Houston Rockets
