Mark Jackson Quits YES

Post#1 » by G_MoNeY » Thu Apr 17, 2008 2:43 pm

April 17, 2008 -- Mark Jackson, the NetsNew Jersey Nets ' popular YES analyst the last three seasons and a top candidate to become coach of the KnicksNew York Knicks , hit YES with a farewell bomb last night when he announced on the air he would not be returning to call Net games.

Jackson, after the Nets-Celtics game in Boston, told The Post he did not wish to comment on the Knicks position, but did say, "This was going to be it, anyway [on YES]. With a wife and four kids in Los Angeles, every game is a road game."

Jackson's relationship with YES had been poor since Jackson, two seasons ago, rejoined ABC/ESPN, apparently without consulting YES.

According to a source, YES had no idea Jackson reached a decision and was stunned he announced the decision on the air.

Beginning signs he's headed back to NY, IMO. A shame we're going to lose out him, liked him as an announcer and feel he'll be a great coach someday.[/quote]

I'm happy. I don't like his in-game analysis.

So much for the Nets being an attractive destination. My guess is the poor state of the team made him decide to jump. Like Kidd, Jackson has enough reputation to write his own ticket to lots of other greener opportunities. That's when you know things are going to remain bad for a while longer.

I don't know if he could coach. But I do think he could make a successful GM. He has a broad range of experience on all sorts of different NBA teams, and he seems to have great working relationships all over the league. (Compared to Isiah who goes from place to place after burning bridges and leaving smoking ruins.)

I don't blame him at all, the product is absolute garbage and with frank being given the vote of confidence from thorn it will not change. Sean Williams was absolutely buried at the end of the season and i think that was a disgrace.

"Mark, you're better than that!"

We seriously need to get rid of our big contracts. Ratner needs to pay for Brooklyn and our tickets sales were horrendous even when Kidd was still here. For our next Nets announcer...to save money, instead of looking for someone new, Ratner will hire someone on staff...Sly.

This made me cry a little inside. I love Mark and his comments. He is funny and knows what he is talking about. Like someone said before me, him and Ian made an excellent team.
