What are our keys to success this post-season?

Post#1 » by JapanAir21 » Thu Apr 17, 2008 7:27 am

To me I think we need these four things to happen for us to win.

Josh Howard to slash to the basket more then taking jumpers (unlikely :-? )
Jason Kidd to not pass-up shots and take them when he's open.
Dirk to not falter in any game, this is crucial, we can't afford for him to go silent for a game or two.
Bass and Dampier to score 15-20 a game for us (combined, not each).

We shouldnt force Kidd to take jumpers when he doesnt feel like he can make them. I think his great percentages stem from the cherrypicking he does and this team can afford. If its the position, timing, mood,.... i dont care, if he feels it he can make those jumpers on high probability and thats way more than we could have expected from him when he came here.

What you say about JHo is also true for Stack.
Terry had one of his rare 30+ points games yesterday, so that might also be crutial.
When there is the whole coaching issue, ISO, pushing the ball etc.
---
If it pans out, these are the keys to a championship, i agree. To advance, not all these factors have to happen at once though, a mix might be enough.

Guys, guys, guys...

One series at a time. Let's not make this about all the teams. Let's just focus on the Hornets, period.

The matchups are interesting to say the least.
If we could just close games with Luka, Kyrie, Green, Maxi, and Wood that'd be great...

Exactly. The key to success against THE HORNETS is stopping Chris Paul, obviously.

Don't discount David West or Tyson Chandler or Peja Stojakovic either... But Chris Paul is where it all starts. We are built to beat this team. And they know it.

Dallas vs. NO:

1) DDD (don't disappear, Dirk). gotta score and contain West somewhat.
2) Control Paul - can Kidd get the job done? Paul owns the matchup historically.
3) Damp vs. Chandler - Tyson has roughed him up pretty good the past couple of years. Damp needs to hold his own, especially since we don't have a bonafide backup c any more.
4) Keep Peja off the 3 pt line.

5) Put Bonzi on the Free throw line

The keys are easy.

1. Chris Paul
2. David West

Score more points than the other guys.

Unlike last year's first round exit, we should play to our strength. That's the only principle to me. Win or lose, it doesn't matter.
