Terry Porter -- What happened?

Post#1 » by Dan Z » Thu Apr 17, 2008 10:05 pm

Wasn't Terry Porter coach the year during his first season as coach?

If so, why was he fired?

And why doesn't his name come up when other vacancies are out there? Does he not want to coach anymore? Or is there some other reason?

He was fired by the Bucks because of some circumstances that don't really make sense. Ask GrandAdmiralDan about it.

He will get another chance, his name came up last offseason for a few jobs but he didnt get any, I expect his name to crop up again this season
"That's why the last two years weren't guaranteed," Walsh said. "Either way, he knew it could have happened either way."

he really wasn't a good coach...pretty clueless with the X's and O's...where he did excel, however, was getting the most out of his players....TJ Ford was under control and played amazing with terry coaching....damon jones got all those big deals because of what he did under porter.....i mean the guy made it to the playoffs with daniel santiago starting most of the games

but taking a team out of that 6-8 playoff range and into the second round of the playoffs? wouldn't count on it

I'm sure the Bucks would be ok with a 6-8 seed this year.

I just thought that he did a solid job and was wondering why he was fired. I was wrong about coach of the year. Not sure why I thought that he got that.

He was in the running for coach of the year in his first year I believe.

I think he'll eventually get another shot as over time he'll be thought of as a better coach than he actually was.

He got fired because Larry Harris is an idiot. Or Kohl. Whoever chose to fire Porter.

The Bucks would be far better off if Porter was still there. I don't understand why anyone would want to hire Terry Stotts, then replace him with another inexperienced coach.
