Well I just cant bring myself to not pick the Mavericks in the Finals, no matter how improbable it is.

Me too. I would like to see the Mavs and Boston, that is what I picked at the beginning of the year. But I just don't our mavs getting out of the West unless Avery lets em loose.

I think the Mavs pull out the first round win vs. NO. But, as a Nets fan forever, and having watched Kidd forever, Paul vs. Kidd is a terrible matchup for Kidd. I'd look into having someone else guard paul. Kidd can't guard the small fast PGs like Paul, TJ Ford, Parker, Calderon, etc.

So does the winner of the Dal-NO play the winner of the Pho-SA?

Celts and Lakers

Mavs out again in first round (6 games).

Can't wait to hear the excuse this time (Refs?, Matchups?)

It's the series I wanted for the first round and I fully expect us to make it to the second round. I'm going to pay close attention to the Suns and Spurs series. I expect that to be our toughest task if we make it out of the second round.

Go Mavs

:wavefinger: New Orleans was one of the teams I said we could beat.

ss_maverick wrote:So if Dallas can beat on of Denver, SA, PHX, LAL or Utah I win. If the first one of those we meet bounces us out then you win. If GS , Houston, Portland or NO beat us then neither of us wins.

So if Dallas wins, I win!

Go Mavs
Yup! That's why I did not mind going to 8th and facing Lakers in the 1st round and the winner of Utah/Houston in the 2nd.

Can Kidd bring us the playoff toughness we've lacked in the past?
Will Dirk's wheels hold up in the more physical playoff atmosphere?
Will we see a Jet or JoHo sighting?
Will the bench show up?

Seems like an awful lot of question marks going into the playoffs. That doesn't seem like a good sign to me.

But as always, I'm hopeful.

The Lakers worry me and it would be much more difficult for us to get out of the first round. I prefer our current path and it should be a very exciting one.

I agree.
I think the lakers are the worst matchup for us. We don't have any single player able to contain Kobe and their team is far deeper compared as before, thanks to the griz.

Game 1's:

Cleveland favored to beat Washington by 3.5

San Antonio favored to beat Phoenix by 4

New Orleans favored to beat Dallas by 4.5

Houston favored to beat Utah by 1

Orlando favored to beat Toronto by 6.5

Los Angeles favored to beat Denver by 8.5

Detroit favored to beat Philadelphia by 9.5

Boston favored to beat Atlanta by 15

I disagree. This is about championship or bust. Not 2nd round being better than 1st. We have a better chance at going all the way in the 1/8 bracket than we do in the 2/7 bracket.

Current matchup:
Hornets, winner of Suns/Spurs, Lakers (baring an upset)

What we could have had
Lakers, winner of Jazz-Rox, pick one (Nuggets, Hornets, Suns, Spurs)

Knocked out in the 1st Round = Knocked out in 2nd round = Knocked out in 3rd round <<<<<<<< Winning a championship.

Championship or bust, baby! If we still had youth, then I can see having something to be proud about for next year if we lose this year. Trading your future for a win immedatley PG and having the 2nd highest payroll in the NBA without any farm system to replace these people means CHAMPIONSHIP OR BUST!

Seriously, dude? You really think we can win a championship without faceing LA?

If (and that's a powerfull if) we get past the Hornets AND the winner of the Suns-Spurs, we stil have to face the Lakers cuz Denver, Houston and Jazz sure ain't knocking them out.

Return to Dallas Mavericks
