I'm not buying into the too many minutes excuse

Post#1 » by Sid the Squid » Fri Apr 18, 2008 3:42 am

For BD's crappy play....He just sucked..

Other big minute-80 game players (and guess what? they didnt suck in March/April)

Deron Williams
Chris Paul
Raymond Felton
Lebron James
Allen Iverson
Joe Johnson
Kobe Bryant
Andre Iguodala

Find another excuse..Nobody else faded so badly...Baron sucked because he wasnt motivated...Just like he sucked for months at a time under Monty.

Personally? I think Baron's partying Hollywood hip hop persona is what did him in..I think he was severly hungover for the last 10 games or so.

if Baron shaved his beard, he wouldn't have been as tired.

that thing must weigh 20 lbs.

He's a quitter.... 3 times he's quit, 3 separate coaches. What kind of leader is this?

The only person on the team, noticably gassed at the end of the season was Al Harrington... and he only got what, 25 mpg?

Priorities 1 + 2, assuming Nelson is staying, are to get rid of Baron and Al... we need to strike while the iron's hot with Baron. Might be our only shot to deal him for something good.. once he signs the extension w/us, he's a Warrior for life... once he signs somewhere else, we got zilcho for him... Al should only play in 40 games next season, and if we make the playoffs, brought back for those.

most of those guys are regular 82 game guys. baron hadn't done it in years. baron played nearly 1,000 more minutes this year than last year. baron hadn't played anything remotely close to the minutes he played this year in 6 years. most of those guys are younger than baron and have been injured a lot less.

we got a lot more out of baron this year than we had any expectation of going in. i figured 55-60 games. he actually went 82. he stunk in the last handful of those 82 but i figured that there'd be "rust games" or w/e in the 50something. the hope was that we'd get enough to get to the playoffs and that he'd be rested enough going into them that we could make some noise again.

steven jackson stunk the last few weeks as well. could be a coincidence. could be they just ran out of gas.

Jackson was with BD at the birthday bash in the Valley before the famous suns loss...Remember the Houston home loss? There's video out there of Baron-Jack-Monta partying it up the night before...

I hate the excuses you guys come up with for lazy play.

If Baron was so tired, he'd stink it up in the 4th Q's..Instead he was at his worst in the 1st half of games...Starting with the Minnesota Martin Luther King game.

And none of those guys walk (or look :D ) like Redd Fox. Baron's got a gimpy back and a gimpy knee - the dude's never gonna be an iron man in this league.

I'm kind of holding judgement on this partying before the Suns game thing. Still waiting for more info about it, but if it's true, that's totally inexcusable, and happy trails to you Baron after next year (whoever thinks he's opting out is crazy  ).

Oh it's looking true..A known BD kool-aid drinker on another board got the inside scoop..His friend had drinks with Nellie Tuesday night at the Nelson Oakland penthouse....Baron was even there when this friend 1st arrived...Anyway Nellie spilled the beans on why he benched Baron and almost benched Jack the rest of the game too..They were both hungover before the game ...Baron was totally out it..

He can't be, when he hit two shots. If he was totally out, he'd be 0/14.

Baron's stats in day games this season:

FG% 38.7
3PT% 25.5

Just another sign of lack of discipline.

Yeah, tough getting up the next morning when you're out drinking all night.

I have a friend that saw Patrick OBryant AND Stephen Lasme going into the Blue Oyster Bar with a box full of bunt cakes shaped like phalluses the night before every game.

This must be why they never got on the floor for the Warriors. These dumb bastards.

I can't keep track. Is it quitting? Or partying? Or too many minutes? I know I gotta be missing at least 3 other theories. Let me know when the poll numbers are in.

These two could be one and the same.... lord knows I dont feel like putting my heart into something when I'm hungover. I'd much rather make sarcastic remarks all day.

Sure Busty wasn't with him? Oh, that's right he was at McDonald's that night.

Go out in the street and just take off...full sprint...fast as you can g
o. Now...keep up that pace for a half hour. Try it. That's why Ricky Henderson never won a marathon.

Baron has had 20 pt games,8 asst games in the last few weeks. That's not bad,Bimbo Coles probably managed that once a season. Jax? In the last 2 weeks he's been like Foyle asked to knock down a few dozen 3's.

Yeah....we COULD cash in Baron now while he's been successful (or worn out + sucky depending on your view) just like we cashed in Wilt Chamberlain,Tim Hardaway,Mitch Richmond,Sleepy Floyd,Nate Thurmond,Tim Hardaway,Antwaun Jamison,Bernard King,Robert Parrish and most everyone else we had who played well.

I think all those guys got us Evan Eschmeyer,Popeye Jones and the fading years of Mookie Blaylock.
CENSORED... No comment.
