Kevin Love

Post#1 » by jebdrbhjb » Wed Apr 16, 2008 5:26 pm

I'm going to assume four things:

1) He declares for the draft
2) We get the 13th pick
3) There are no PGs of good value at 13
4) We're not trading the pick for a veteran PG

Would you like us to select Kevin Love? I think he'd be a perfect addition to Oden and Aldridge. He's arguably got the best basketball IQ in college this year and has some attributes we could really use.

Thoughts?
Excuse me please, one more drink
Could you make it strong?
'Cause I don't need to think

Who would you want Portland to get Kevin Love when they already have Oden and Aldridge? Are you looking at Love as a backup? Someone like DJ Augustine (if the feel is that he can be an NBA starting PG) or Nicolas Batum (extreme upside and can play a couple of positions) would be the better choices IMO.

At 13th overall, I would expect at least a couple of Augustin, Westbrook, Gallinari, Greene or Randolph to be available, all of whom project as either PGs or SFs in the NBA. I would also be very surprised to see Kevin Love still available at 13th - is he really gonna slip by Charlotte, Chicago, NJ, Indiana, and Sacramento? I highly doubt it.

Yeah that's a very good point. I doubt Love will still be on the board at 13.

You would have a real nice 3 man rotation at the 4 and 5 spots with those guys. To me he would be an absolute steal at 13. As for the comment he has the best basketball IQ in this draft try the best in at least a decade for a big man.

I don't think I've ever seen so much ambiguity in an OP/thread title.

I think the Blazers take Augustin if he's on the table.

They have Pryz, Oden and LA as a solid offensive/defensive three man big rotation with Frye as the fourth guy. I would expect them to go PG/SG (the opposite of where they see Roy).

When all is said and done I wouldn't be surprised to see Love go #5. Not a snowball's chance in hell he lasts to #13.

agreed.

I find it comical that some mocks have Kevin Love going into the teens! lol. please. that will never happen. As a Sixers fan, I pray he will slip to 16, but I know that is unrealistic.

I have seen several times today on ESPN that many of the hosts and analysts seem to think love is for sure a top 5 pick and possibly a top 3 pick just behind Beasley and Rose.

I'm not sure if it's pure hype or if nobody thinks his physical stature is an issue. he's a little undersized for a pf and he's a little overweight for the NBA game.

I think love is a great player and will do some great things but just not sure if he deserves as much hype as I heard today.

I do think he could and should go as high as 5, I can't see the bobcats passing on him.

I see Portland going either PG or SF with their picks, and at 13 there's several very good SF prospects who will be available (Greene, Budinger, Batum, several more).

As others said, Love shouldn't last that long, but if he does I do believe the Blazers would take him as the BPA.

As for PGs, Westbrook, Augustin and Lawson are the only 3 I could see who may deserve to be taken that high (well, except for Rose, Mayo, and Bayless who will all be long gone). Problem is, any of those 3 may be a stretch in the lotto.

Blazers management has done an outstanding job targeting successful players, and moving in the draft to obtain those players. It would not surprise me to see them move up and snag someone unexpected higher in the lotto.

Isn't Portland supposed to trade out of 13 for a veteran PG? I thought I read that they didn't want to get any younger? Love doesn't make any sense, and they already have 3 young PGs on the team. Personally, I think they use the 13th pick in a trade for some veteran leadership...if Oden comes back healthy, and they get a quality veteran PG, they should have a great shot at being a top 4 playoff team next year.

Kevin Love is going to be a beast in the NBA. He has a great post game and his size and length give him all the tools to become a great post defender. I see him peaking at 20 & 10 along with great defense. If he goes to Charlotte you better watch out.

5) Emecka Okafor
4) Kevin Love
3) Gerald Wallace
2) Jason Richardson
1) Raymond Felton

As the Pistons and Celtics begin to decline, you'll have a new powerhouse in the east.

I actually dont see him going to Charlotte, if he does you are showing Sean May the door. In this draft you are going to take Love any time after the second pick and dont need to do to much explaining why.

Having Sean May's going to prevent you from drafting a big guy?

There is no way Kevin Love gets top 3 consideration. He doensn't have the upside to warrant a pick that high.

It's doubtful he'll be a top 5 pick.
