I agree with that. When someone picks the number of games it isn't really about the number of games that are being picked, unless you are betting money on it  Instead it is about which team you think is going to win.

I honestly don't know who takes it this year. In year's past I always felt the Spurs would take it, but this season I don't get that feeling. I won't lie and say that I am pulling for the Spurs to take the series because I am not, but I don't expect the Suns to walk right through you guys either because the bottom line is until some other team bumps you off your still the team on top of the mountain and I don't think you will come down from it without a good solid fight.

duncan has to stay out of foul trouble

and guys like tp, gino and finley have to score for us to be competitive in this series...

duncan is awaken
AJ:"I'm Western Conference," he said. "I'm Popovich. I'm for him, for Texas and for the Spurs."

Cant wait for some epic basketball. I have mad respect for the Spurs and their brand of basketball but everyone has to fall at some point. I truly believe the winner of this series gets out of the West. Should be loads of fun.

man, i wish you guys good luck for this series, it will be awesome to watch

i will say though, some of the posters here, and i only mean SOME, really just inflame things with the things they post

lets just keep it respectful, no matter what suns fans say or what spurs fans say, deep down there is a great level or respect for the quality of the opponent and how tough the series will be, so why not just acknowledge that instead of the fake macho act or resorting to childing baiting of opponents fans?

(its easy for me to say that when im sober tho..... ask me during game 3 when im plastered and i might have a different story haha... perhaps its best for me "not to leave the immediate vicintity of the suns board" during those times ;-))

From a suns fans point of view, here is what i think you need to do to eliminate us :

Firstly - it goes without saying, amare fouls. Suns will be trying to keep him out of foul trouble, you will be trying to get him in foul trouble. I expect the spurs to try legitimately and through exagerrating contact where possible (im not complaining, just stating what will happen.) If amare gets into foul trouble and cant play more than 32mpg in this series then you will have gone a LONG way to winning it. The suns would want amare to get 36mpg+.

The most important part to this is the first 5 minutes. The suns will start amare on duncan during this time, not shaq, so if amare gets 2 early fouls, then that pretty much spells him for the night as he wont be as affective at all after that. Expect to see Brian Skinner get some time in this series

Perimeter D - I dont need to tell the spurs to defend the perimeter, you guys do it better than anyone in the L. Any team that revolves around shaq, let alone the already perimeter based suns, needs to be a threat from down town to make the system work and open up the middle. All you need to do is keep defending the perimeter like you already do against us and that should be a good enough effort there

Both teams X factors are Manu and Barbosa. Both players have been great at best and also had some down patches (manu has been more consistent). The spurs really need manu to give them a scoring punch in each game with no downers and the suns need barbosa to finally do something against the spurs for the first time ever. Dont sleep on barbosa though, he could be the player that makes or breaks the suns. I know you guys dont think much of him because he generally doesnt play well against you, but that in itself is something to worry about, if he does perform at a level which he normally does, then that will be something unexpected for phoenix.

Pick and roll shaq - nuff said, but a play that could cause other trouble is to run the pick and roll with duncan and kurt with kurt popping out (as an alternative to parker duncan)

Something the spurs need to do is to realise that 90% of the time, amare when he gets the ball at the top of the key will take the jumpshot if open, and if the defender is in his face he takes the quick step right. You guys would be wise to have a defender down low on that side (whoever is defending the baseline 3 pointer) to leave his man more open on the 3 and get closer to the paint. The main reason for this is that amare is not likely to make that pass and if they see amare take that first step, they should be able to step in quick enough to take the charge (and therefor get him in foul trouble and get into his head taking away his go to move)

obviously i want suns in 4, that wont happen, a 7 game series would be entertaining but make me lose my mind haha!

I will say suns in 7 but that is purely based on me being a suns fan, so good luck, may the best team win

Agreed, however this is a message that should not only be preached on this board, but the Suns as well. I've browsed the Spurs threads there, and you have the same machoism (Final post on page 1 of the game 1 thread), baiting (San Antonio Sterns? Stating that the Spurs will only win if the refs cheat and call bogus fouls on Shaq and Amare, despite the fact that they are tied for 2nd in the league in fouls in the regular season, complaining about how flopping is ruining the game and linking to a Tony Parker youtube link when it's just as easy to find a Raja flop http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xNN9ZiH3 ... re=related).

At any rate, I'm expecting a good series. I just hope the annoying fandom can be kept to a minimum.

Touche'

I don't even bother to read the threads on the Suns board given the immaturity level that is found in every other post.

I agree with most of what you said...

I also think that Diaw can have* significant effect on the game. He has the ability to really wreck havoc on various teams* but he plays soft whenever Amare is on the floor. It is like he plays like his balls* have not dropped at times.

Blah Blah Blah. We all just need to admit that we hate each other, and that is okay. Enough with all this trying to make nice. BOWEN IS A DIRTY F_ING PLAYER and MANU flops more than a poker dealer.

F The spurs!!!

Just kidding, I love you spurs fans.

Spurs overtake Suns 4-2. Obviously it will be a tough series. Best of luck to both teams and may the Spurs win the series.

yeah i didnt really get into too much about what the suns need to do (ill save that for the suns boards) but youre right, diaw is a HUGE key for us

when hes good he is Boris, when he is bad he is Doris. fortunately he doesnt do too badly against you guys, so hopefully we can get some solid contributions from him, i dont know what you guys think but i reckon every time he has to defend duncan he actually does a solid job as a post defender also which helps

im hoping giri can give us some "manu lite" production and intensity also

Hey SDU, good to see you're keeping the peace. Deep down, I know you know this thing can go either way though.

Let me say this: I HATE this is starting in SA. It is much easier for the road team to steal home court in games 1-2 when both teams are pretty equal. Then protecting home court after the series gets going is easier.

Second thing: when that momentum swings to the Suns in a game or the series, the Spurs are going to come out swinging. They are going to go over the top physical on them. But everyone knows this. It will be interesting to see how the Suns respond to this with Shaq on their team. If they overcome that, I will credit Shaq for that.

I say Spurs in 7. But would not be surprised with any outcome, even a 5-6 game series that goes either way.
