The Numbers:
Rudy Gay:
fg% up 4...ft% up 5.8...rebs up 1.7, asts. up .7, stls up .6, pts up 9.3

Hedo Turkoglu:
fg% up 3.7...3pt % 1.2..ft% 4.8..rebs up 1.7..asts up 1.8..pts up 6.2

Both have 6 categories significantly up from the previous year...pretty much evenly matched, but when you get to points per game, Rudy has the bigger jump (all in less minutes), IMO that clinches it...but if Turk won it, I would have no gripes...

I know this might sound insane since he won the MIP last year, but...

Monta Ellis
fg% up 5.6, rebs up 1.8, pts up 3.7 and turnovers down 0.73. Plus he averaged 22.8 points, 5.8 reb, 4.6 ast and 1.9 steals on 53% shooting.

I don't know if he should get it over Rudy Gay, but the fact you make a strong argument for a guy winning MIP a second straight year is incredible.

My picks:

MVP
1. Chris Paul Hornets
2. LeBron James Cavs
3. Kevin Garnett Celtics
4. Kobe Bryant Lakers
5. Tracy McGrady Rockets

No one expected the Hornets to finish this high and Paul had one of the greatest seasons for a PG in more than 20 years. I know some have mentioned what Kobe went through during the offseason and up to the opener. Honestly I think that should count against him since those actions are anything, but MVP-like.

Defensive Player
1. Kevin Garnett Celtics
2. Marcus Camby Nuggets
3. Shane Battier Rockets

Just the whole transformation on D by Boston has been incredible and KG is the force behind that.

Rookie of the Year
1. Kevin Durant Sonics
2. Al Horford Hawks
3. Luis Scaola Rockets

Horford had a great year, but if you saw Simmons' column on the MVP (the first part) the comparison of Durant vs other 19-year-old rookie forwards is scary.

Sixth Man
1. Manu Ginobli Spurs
2. Leandro Barbosa Suns
3. Jason Terry Mavericks

Not much to say here

Most Improved Player
1. Chris Kaman Clippers
2. Monta Ellis Warriors
3. Tie: Rudy Gay/Hedo Turkoglu

Some might disagree with these choices, but I think the jump is from good to all-star is bigger, more impressive than ok, to good player. IMO both Kaman and Ellis made "the jump" to All-Star level players.

Coach of the Year
1. Byron Scott Hornets
2. Maurice Cheeks 76ers
3. Phil Jackson Lakers

Honestly there are a lot of great candidates this year (Doc Rivers, Rick Addelman, Eddie Jordan, Jerry Sloan and Nate McMillan).

Executive of the Year
1. Danny Ainge Celtics
2. Mitch Kupcheck Lakers
3. Daryl Morey Rockets

Very honorable mention to Kevin Pritchard (Blazers), Jeff Brower (Hornets). I'm hesitant to put Ainge this high because of the incompetence before this season. For that reason, I put Ainge on (his stuff in the last year), I can't put Brower on.

I'd give it to turkoglu basically because He upped his average in every single category except for steals while being the 2nd best player for a 50+ wins team. Some didn't even think he would start this season let alone avg 19,6,5 when his career avg is 11,4,2.

Gay deserves it too, I just hope Rondo doesn't win it.

Yeah, I have been convinced.
I put Turkoglu at the #1 for MIP.

I wouldnt mind seeing Turk win it...I just think Rudy's are better, though I feel Turk made more of an impact on winning/playoff team...he deserves, just like to see Rudy get his props....

and KAMAN...I've seen this pic before and cant stand it (love Kaman btw...)...does anyone have any clue why this should be shot down for MIP???

Little late, but:

MVP
1. Kobe Bryant
2. Kevin Garnett
3. Chris Paul
4. LeBron James
5. Tracy McGrady

ROY
1. Kevin Durant
2. Al Horford
3. Thaddeus Young

(Since all the other awards have been decided... but I was very happy with KG as DPOY)

(Best MVP race in any season that I was old enough to watch... I would have picked any of the top 3/4 candidates over Dirk last year)
