Let Pietrus walk

Post#1 » by Abyss Impact » Thu Apr 17, 2008 10:55 pm

He is a train wreck. We don't need his poor play. We need to resign Barnes. Why would we let one of our captains go even though he has a down year? Barnes brings us energy which Pietrus lacks alot. Barnes is a passer, unlike Pietrus, everytime he touched the ball he shoots it.

Barnes > Pietrus. Barnes on this team next season will be better than Pietrus being on this team. Plus, Barnes will be cheaper and won't whine for playing time. Pietrus doesn't have heart. He is a stat padder. He takes rebounds away from Ellis. Btw, did you know he can't shoot free throws? What team has a SF that can't shoot free throws... Wow, and hes a 5 year vet already. He needs to go. Useless junk sitting on our bench won't do us any good if we bring him back. The guy to bring back is our captain: Matt Barnes. I don't care if he injures people, at least he brings hustle to this team and grabs the rebounds. Matt Barnes is hated by many people, but not us because he is our captain. He may be a thug to them, but hes our only hope to win the championship in Don Nelson's final year.

Now who agrees?

For real Abyss... get off his n*ts, for a lack of a better word. You are a sad, sad person. You must be either french, which I have nothing against, or you have a stalker like man-crush on him. He is good. I'll admit, but he has his spurts. Only if he keeps on doing what the coach tells him to do and plays full throttle AND SMART every game, I'd LOVE to have him back. He is still young and would look nice on a NEW LOOK WARRIORS with MONTA, PIETRUS, B-WRIGHT, and BIEDRINS as the core.

Coach Larry Brown anybody???

Wiretap has an article that says Barntrus are likely not returning to the Warriors.

And as expected, Chef POB.

We need that.... we have some skinny young players and we dont need a real NBA thug coming to knock them out... Barnes is our thug. I want him back for the minimum, and ready to knock anyone on their ass who throws a hard shoulder into Tay or Wright.

Did his flagrants really have any rhyme or reason? I think he's just a sore loser.

I'm just glad we have someone finally willing to do them... most good teams do have that one guy, an enforcer type... Raja Bell, Bruce Bowen instantly spring to mind, I'm sure there are others who fit the bill.

But they have actual talent. Barnes on the other hand... one lucky year with 3s and he thought he was a shooter :/

I see the W's basioally choosing between Barnes and Pietrus, with the next issue-who really wants to return and what's the $ factor.

Obviously-we need the guys returning to MORE regularly have their A game. Barnes,Pietrus,Azu HAVE topped 20 pt and 10 rbd,and there's been plenty of games when Harrington/Jackson failed to grab 4 boards or reach 25% FG...and Al + Jax are paid starter $. Had we PLAYED Wright-Belli enough to call them proven rotation guys, that could have changed the reality.

IF our core strategy is to be faster/quicker....it's simple logic we won't do that if tired, hurt, worn down. We need MORE bench...not less. However,Nellieball is not exactly what every player is used to-or suited for-so just a plug + play thing, assuming whatever we find dirt cheap will suffice,is a low % plan. While Barnes and Pietrus are obviously not the ideal, are not star quality....what can you realistically expect from whoever fills the spot if they both escape?
CENSORED... No comment.

Pietrus is going to command way more money than Barnes and unless Jackson gets moves, there's no point whatsoever for keeping Pietrus (not from our standpoint and definitely not from his). So if anyone returns I expect it will Barnesey, since he's going to be less expensive (probably will make less than he is now) since I really don't think there are going to be too many offers for him out there (he thought last year was bad). Could be wrong, but that's what I figure it will be.

Barnes may only have us to turn to.

And if you'll notice he should have been wearing street clothes for the amount of minutes he logged down the stretch.

I heard a few things that sounded like Barnes was talking ess about Nelson. If that's the case and Nellie knows it, then Barnes doesn't come back.

Personally he's a decent bench guy who could help. There were games this year that I thought we could have turned to him more and we didn't. He had a horrible year, but he can be better we've seen it.

Peteleavy is gone and good riddance. He's funny, but just so dense.

Where's Barnes really becomes an asset is when a bunch of guys go down with injuries (like his first year). Then he becomes a really valuable asset with his versatility since he can step in and start and do an adequate job. Nellie really screwed him up by trying to make him a starter. Fine as a backup/fill in.
