And seriously, the over the top love for Tom Thibodeau needs to stop. I swear some people use Thibodeau to avoid having to give Doc any credit. It's like Thibodeau is pulling the strings on everything, when last time I checked he's still just an assistant coach.

Doc has been Coach of the Year in this league, he's had his moments of his success as well as his moments of failure, he's a pretty damn solid head coach. And people still want to pull the plug on Doc after a 66 win season and hand the reins over to an assistant coach whose never been a head coach. I don't get it. It's like the Michael Bishop theory all over again.

Thank you thank you thank you.
It's still 17 to 11!!!!

Really the way of Doc? Playing defense of wich Doc doesn't even coach and is the staple point of our team?

As for the first few words of the second underline, there's a diffrence to signing someone to a long extention and just keeping him along. Doc is a nice puppet and doesn't need to go, but Thib needs to stay. As long as Doc doesn't get in the way we can keep around the big guy and let him handle our PR stuff.

All I'm saying is don't go claiming he's won the players heart, or is some great coach, or even that his players pay hard for him ala the celtics did for Jim O'Brien. Doc is a Head Coach that needs an "Associate Head Coach" in order to cover up his defects and bringing Doc back without Thib won't do.

That's crap dude, Thib's a good D coach, and I'm glad he is here, but the thing that makes this team is what it is it's heart and drive, and last years young, hopeless, injured team played with that same heart and effort, they were just that bad. Even when we were "tanking", maybe we tanked by not playing Paul when he came back, but if you watched the games at the end of the season, the players on the floor played hard every game. That is what Doc brings to the team, the players want to play for him and they buy into him, if you can't see that I don't know what the **** you're watching. This team has consistently played harder than it's opponents all season, in every aspect of the game, and that is why they've won 66 games. Part KG, part Tommy T, part Paul Pierce, and a big part Doc.

Wow, Doc still gets hatred, mainly for the 05-06 and 06-07 seasons though...WHEN HE WAS TANKING! Open your eyes haters, the team wanted draft picks, so we lost, that doesn't make Doc Rivers a bad coach. Doc should win Coach of the Year, and if he doesn't, just another example of the league hating on the Celtics, which is historical.

slaughter, 4-0 ECF team. Strickland is gahd bahby, estrick is gahd...

the 02 pierce was >>> than that years version, Williams abuses wally on both ends, Battie and obies scheme contain al no problem, and the inexperience of the backcourt has no answer for Kenny/Delk/Estrick. Couple that with jefferson/perkins inability to gaurd 3s from the 4/5s (walker, rogers, waltah) and gomes and greens disinterest in gaurding the perimeter,... hell, Eric Williams and Paul Pierce would foul out Perk/Jeff within 20minutes of PT... this would be ugly. Honestly people, at 15win is suppose to take down a squad that was within a single hot shooting night of the NBA finals in a 7 game series... IDIOTS!!!

(BTW, the erick strickland era was and likely will continue to be my favorite era of any celtic)

I still think people are way overrating that ECF team. Is everyone here like 15 years old or something?

Since when did a mediocre team that made it to the ECF once in the weak east become the standard for a good team?

Neither last years team or the ECF team were good teams. Period. The original point was what, that Doc had as much talent as the ECF team but only won 20 something games last year?

In my opinion the ECF team is completely irrelevant to an evaluation of Doc.

He lost most all those games last year because of injuries and inexperience, now he has a team that is experienced, with good players that have remained relatively healthy and he has been successful.

What does that mean as far as an extension? To me it means let's wait and see because he hasn't proven anything yet. He's proven he can do a great job managing a talented team of smart veterans throughout the regular season, if his success continues through the playoff then yeah extend him.

But at this point, he has performed poorly with bad players and excellently with excellent players... that seems like a result of roster changes to me. If he makes the right decisions in big game moments throughout the playoffs then he has proven his worth.
