I'm a big Keane fan. "Under the Iron Sea" is one of my favorite albums.

I admit I don't really go off the beat and path that often, I usually don't pony up for full CD's as you can always get everything off of ITunes.

I really love Willy Porter, and not only because he's from the Milwaukee area but because he puts on a great show (saw him in this little bodunk place in Milwaukee this summer, I can't even remember the name of it).

I love the old DMB, Under the Table and Crash albums. #41 might be my favorite song, both lyrics and instrumental on that song are amazing. I haven't seen Dave in years but probably have seen him 12 times or so overall, his Alpine shows rule.

Love Barenaked Ladies, I think more just because they don't take themselves serious at all and they really improvise quite a bit at their concerts. "Stunt" is a great album.

The Stone Temple Pilots were really great before Weiland's drug addiction really cut in. "Core" is an amazing album, "Sex Type Thing", "Wicked Garden", "Plush", and "Creep".

Don't really listen to much rap anymore, but absolutely loved Tupac. Best mix of lyrics and beat around, Killuminati and All Eyez on Me were probably my favorite two rap CD's of all-time, although Ready to Die by Biggie was close.

Really?? Where and what? I agree that it's interesting. I'm only familiar with it because of studying two composers (Scriabin and Messiaen) who are said to have had it. They both made charts assigning colors to chords and scales, but the two don't agree with each other, suggesting that the colors sounds suggest are personal and not universal. But I don't know much about the subject, so anything you can fill me in on is appreciated.

Adam, I guess saying I do research on it is misleading. What I should have said was I am doing a research apprenticeship with one of my professors at UW-La Crosse. My apprenticeship actually starts next semester so I have not began any designs yet, more just extensive reading up on it and observance of current designs in order to be more educated about it when my apprenticeship begins.

The research that I observed would definitely interest you though. Basically my professor sets up different musical instruments and does a design based on assigning dark or light colors to different chords, etc. Many follow up studies can be done to test consistency, etc. His results actually show that a statistically significant number of people do have some small synasthaetic experience when listening to music.

But from the relatively small amount of information i know right now, you are correct that it would be a personal thing. One of the theories that I have read and tend to follow is that is a neural pruning phenomenon. So basically there would have been connections made through cross-activation of adjacent sensory areas of the brain when we were younger and still "neural pruning".

Interesting stuff REDDZone. I read the article and would probably think it to be more individual; more of a sensory perceptive check. Like a computer that writes a mirror image of data as redundancy helps insure consistent valid perceptions of sensory data. Then again, it could be all time spent with Lucy in the sky with diamonds another lifetime ago.

btw, I have, well maybe better said had, (I haven't talked to him since 1983) a friend who taught art history and was chair of the department at UW-Lacrosse. I lived over there, across the River, and worked in Lacrosse back in the day. Loved it there!
