He's the worst. He's also got no power structure in place. If you want to talk trade with Milwaukee, who do you call? Herb? Ron? Larry?.
What about contracts? GAD tells us that Kohl personally met to present Charlie Bell his 3-year/$6 million dollar offer as a gift from the the team. Again with that move you've just neutered your GM and offended the player.
What about playing time? Yi....you've got at least 20mpg! That neuters Larry K.
What about offensive schemes: "Larry K....we aren't doing the triangle"
And on to the players......It is fine that Kohl meets with the players, but as we've learned, Kohl's message isn't "Look...your concerns are real, but Larry is our coach and I'm backing him 100% on what needs to be done"
Instead the message is "Don't worry, I'll make sure this doesn't happen again....I'll fire LK and Bobby, you and CV will be fine here"
No organization can function with that rot going on.......
If you think the meddling wasn't a serious impediment for Larry K. then Larry Harris was also the most incompetent GM in the league as well because the meddling shouldn't have affected him either. The bottom line is you had two weaker candidates in each position, who might have had a chance to succeed in a stronger environment.
Now Europa says..."Hey...hire someone stronger...they can work through the meddling". Well, as we've learned, up until now, no one stronger wants to come within 100 feet of this organization.....unless gobs of money are thrown out.
I'm not disagreeing with anything you have to say on any of that.. remember I was the only completely convinced that Kohl wouldn't make the move and hire a guy like Hammond (who I wanted) because he didn't want to give up the power.. However, think about it this way.. even when a worker knows that a supervisor isn't the deciding factor in whether they are allowed to advance, get a raise or use certain paid personal leave.. and they know that the "management team/human resources" are responsible 90% of the time they still take out their frustation on the closest person to them.. their supervisor and in this case that closest person to them would be the coach. So the players knew the problems came from the cronies and Kohls management styles (and everyone on the team manipulating to get their way) but they also looked at their coach and blamed him for problems within the organization even though it wasn't entirely his fault. It's not right but it happens.
