Overconfidence a Jazz killer?
From what I can tell this team plays best as the underdog. Last years no one nationally picked the Jazz to beat the Rockets, but they did.
This season has been much of the same. No one picked them to win in Boston, PHX, Denver, NO, on the road by big margins and they did. No one picked them to win against LA without Memo and Booze and they did.
This years playoffs has seen many people pick the Jazz to beat the Rockets. All of ESPN's "experts" picked the Jazz to win the series. I for one fear these signs.

Amen to that.
Given how inconsistent we've been, I certainly think the Jazz FANS are overconfident. The Jazz when they show up with their game faces on would sweep Houston. Those aren't always the Jazz that show up, though. In fact, too often, they're not.

This series scares me. A wounded animal is the most dangerous. Even though the Rockets aren't the most talented team, this year they played with the most heart and desire, something the Jazz this year have lacked. McGrady has no pressure on him this year because without Yao he is expected to lose. He and the rest of the Rockets can go out and play their game without added pressure.

its actually the exact opposite. when dwill realizes he is the best man out on the floor and takes the game into his own hands, thats when the jazz are at their best.

I don't think overconfidence is the issue. But I do think we have a tendency to get complacent at times because of how good we know we are.
That might seem like the same thing, but I feel like there is an important distinction.
As this team grows and matures, we are seeing the guys learning to take care of business more and more. There will always be upsets in the NBA, there will always be letdowns on the road against bad teams. But I'm seeing this team slowing but surely starting to correct these mental breakdowns and start asserting themselves with consistency.
I am not concerned about this issue in the playoffs. This team, personnel wise, is not just good. Its great. We have the peices right now to win a championship. The guys know it, and they believe. They know they can beat anyone. To me, that's a good thing.
No, that's a **** great thing.
